It was amazing trip & the location of the hotel is 1 km away from the city, Locality of the hotel is perfect it was surrounded with greenary and there is a park with lake in front of the hotel. If you want enjoy the stay in Shillong i think pinewood is the perfect location. Best part of the hotel was Bonfire in the room which is very unique and different & the worst part is few staff of the hotel they dont know what is customer service.

Regards

Mj

Stay elsewhere. Its a shabby place. Run down and run by really rude and untrained people. Rooms are dirty, food is inedible, there are no business services to speak of, cabs arent available and atleast on the day I was staying they didnt have backup power.

i reached Shillong on 18th december and checked in the hotel Pinewood hotel,Shillong.I loved the location of the hotel as it was just 2 kms away from the police bajar area yet the ambiance is so peaceful. The structure of the hotel is great but maintenance is not up to mark and food is also not the worth they charge.Attitude of the staff is also lackluster specially in the reception.I found the gym of this hotel to be in good standard. One should visit this hotel for its great structure only.

Re living the Raj, my foot. It was a seedy, shady hotel. Great building, great location, horrible maintainance.

Disgusting. I hope some decent people other than the Government start running it.

This hotel was recommended to me by my friends who lived in Shillong. Since its a government run hotel i was able to book the rooms directly from the Government of Meghalaya tourism office in Delhi.

The hotel is located right within the city and we had no problems in reaching there from Guwahati. The surroundings were green and clean and Ward's lake was very near. We often walked from the hotel to the city center ie. police bazaar. The rooms were spacious we were in the first floor so it offered a nice view of the hills nearby.

The food was good, but they didn't have much to offer for the vegetarians. The room service is also satisfactory and the staff was always helpful. The interiors if the hotel are no different from what one would expect from a government run place, old and wearing. Its a must visit to unwind oneself in peace away from the hustle bustle of the city life.
