May not be the most luxurious around, but it's a charming place whose owners bend over backwards to make you feel at home. It has a well placed pool, small library, bar, dining room and a giant chess board. Per head rates include three fabulous meals.

I visited Lords Central in the first week of June for a weekend getaway..i was relaxation personified! After a 45 minute trek to the hill station from Dasturi Naka (which is the last point for a car to enter Matheran), me and my friends were tired..We were greeted on arrival by the friendly Parsi couple which run the hotel and their dog, Rusty. We liked the hotel at sight immediatly. We were famished, and the Parsi family immediatly set breakfast for us- even though we had reached well past breakfast!
The hotel is a bit run down- it apparently dates about a 100 years..but that added to its charm and homely feel. The rooms were big.. we had stayed in the standard room..three people could easily sleep in the double room and 4 in the room which was meant for 3.However, the rooms were scrupulously clean and so was the pool. The food was great..amazing fare for non-vegetarian..we were served parsi dishes like dhansak on the first day..they have a set menu which is a 4-course meal.
They had a giant chess board and carrom boards and table tennis also..
The hotel is also having an amazing view..specially the sun rise.
The only thing-which is a problem of Matheran actually- were the insects in the room at night..it was rainy season and the insects got attracted to the light. The family told us to shut the light and sleep and that they would eventually go away..apart from that, it was a wonderful experiene.

Lord's is close to the Station and has its own "viewpoint" in its backyard. This is the BEST place to watch the sun rise, besides, after you enjoy the sunrise all you need to do is go back to your room and snuggle in. The rooms have a lovely old world style and the Lord family that owns the place are typically hospitable Parsis. You can book the place from Mumbai - their man personally comes to pick up the cash and hands you the receipt.

Rooms in Matheran mostly come full board. Lords is supposed to be the best food, especially if you like your Parsi Bhonu. Its wonderful to come back to the hotel in the winter to some warm soup and food. On Christmas and other holidays they have a celebratory buffet and at night they have a barbeque. It's a great place for families and couples alike.

This one I must say has the best view from your room in the whole of Matheran with ...It is an Old Colonial Style resort which has Big Huge Rooms which are quite well maintained though they are very Old....They are not like the Plush Resorts in Matheran but there is something Charming about this place....Though I must say they are a little expensive but then the view is very nice....The food is very very Parsi style and I really do not enjoy that food...But then the breakfast that they offer is very nice.....It was a very relaxing 2 days that I spent there after my hectic schedule....Good Place for a Shart Break

Matheran is Maharashtra's one of the most beautiful and well maintained hill station. It is situated at an altitude of 800 mt which is nearest to Mumbai, lying 104 km away. Matheran has 38 points at which can get a glimpse of nature's beauty. However to cover most of these points requires atleat one night stay in Matheran. The presence of hotel's and lodging boarding facilities have made it possible to stay in Matheran and thoroughly enjoy nature's beauty.
Lords central is the only Hotel in Matheran that has a magnificent Valley View. It has a room for every budget and taste. All rooms have an attached bath and toilet with all modern amenities. All rooms have a color TV with most popular channels. All rooms have a telephone to relay the orders to the kitchen. Valley view suites also have a mini fridge . Nestling in the garden with a broad patio around, it is having the beautiful valley view swimming pool where we can have a leisurely swim and swig a drink or two as we soak in the magnificent views of the Sahyadri mountains. To satiate an intellectuals there is a giant outdoor floor chessboard, a mini library and lounge as well as there is Badminton, table tennis, indoor games, video games and a pool table too . And, of course if we want to go on a picnic, they pampered us with a packed breakfast or lunch. They are providing delicious 4 course meals both in Non Veg as well as vegetarian served from the separate Pure Veg kitchen. Over weekends and in the holiday season, they have barbecue nights or a garden buffet where dinner is served alfresco , with fairy lights under a magical starlit sky. They also offer all conference facilities including an enclosed hall to train up to 30 people. I must say that the holiday at the Lords Central could turn out to be the beginning of a self-indulgent lifestyle.

There are lotsa options in Matheran, we chose this place because we wanted to stay away from the new resorts.
This place has a good reputation, the non veg food, the view and the pool are nice.
We took the Valley View rooms which hava a splendid view.
The food which was included in the package was again excellent.
The family (i think parsi family) has been running this place for years and are very good hosts.

A trip to Matheran in May is like visiting a bazaar. Even then loads of visitors especially from Mumabi & Pune visit this place in the summers. Its a cool getaway & enchanting place. We booked the Lords Central without knowing much about it but found the place surprisingly comfortable with amazing atmosphere from the British era.
