Everything is good about the hotel except that there is no hot water through out the day , it is
provided only in the morning valley facing rooms are expensive and the same view can be had
by sitting near the pool
They have a senior citizen scheme during off season on the weekdays if there is no holiday for
4N/5D monday to friday at a very reasonable price around Rs 6,000 inclusive of all taxes and
all meals in the front rooms facing the road

Room Tip: valley facing rooms but expensive

ok - the rooms are fairly basic so don't come here expecting luxury, but I just loved my time here. The owner adds to the heritage charm of the hotel! He is a lovely older chap who will tell you of all the interesting facts of the place since his family have been living there from the time of the raj and will give you some helpful sight seeing tips, if you wish. Food was a set meal - I was slightly worried but actually every dish we had was outstanding. plus they have a pool, a ping pong table and a badminton court, so plenty to do if you want it. I hope when the older snr owner passes the place on, the new incumbent keeps the place exactly the same. The old worldly charm is a joy from all the holiday inns or novotels of the world.

Matheran, the Mini Heaven and Lords Central Hotel at Matheran is an excellent experience. The owner family and their staff make you feel as if you are at your own Grandpa's Village House. Good tasty food with too good hospitality. Worth the money spent. We have visited the place for umpteen number of times and every time it is getting better and better. We have decided to go there every two months.
Strongly recommend for families for a peaceful and enjoyable surrounding.

Room Tip: Valley and swimming pool facing rooms are too good.

Our 5 year old daughter has celiac disease, and Zenobia and the kitchen did an amazing job catering to her dietary needs. Utmost care was taken to ensure no cross contamination occurred and that our daughter was provided with delicious food. Highly recommended to all on a gluten free diet, who want safe and delicious food. Thank you Zenobia!

We travelled to Matheran in the last week of Dec 2013. Peak season at matheran as it is a favourite with mumbaikars . We were a group of 4 aduts and 2 kids and reached there after travelling to Shirdi and Mumbai. Wanted a quiet and relaxing weekend to spend with family. Matheran was a great place to visit . The best part was reaching there. We took the suburban local from CST at 7:50 am and reached Neral around 9:30. Sadly we could not make it to the toy train as there was a long queue and only 110 seats in all! we took a cab till Aman Lodge ( Taxi point) , fixed charge of Rs 70 per head. From there we walked abt 1 Km to reach Aman Lodge station from where we managed to take the toy train to matheran . Its a 20 min ride ( from neral 2 hr ride ). The wait for the train, the ride, watching the monkeys ( plenty of them in all sizes !) and feasting on the local fruits ...all very enjoyable. On reaching Matheran we took a man pulled rickshaw to reach Lords central , ideally located just 1 km / 10 mins walk from the station. Kids had a ride while we walked. The Hotel has a charm of its own. The cottage , furniture et all transport you another era all together. Ample outdoor options for the kids . Badminton, Table Tennis, Swimming Pool, Carrom, Chess ( large outdoor play board) .The room infrastructure was moderate and made one prefer to stay outdoors and enjoy the valley views and enjoy the pollution free ambience. The only noise we could hear was the horses and monkeys ! The evening walk form the hotel to the main market is amazing ...shopaholics beware !! Amazing leather stuff and mind boggling variety of footwear for all age groups. The food at the hotel was very good . Lttle choice for vegetarians but quality made up for spread. The last night there was a special poolside dinner with barbeque et all and the Lords were there personally supervising and assisting in the service. Hospitality at its best that I have experienced ! The Sunrise from the hotel was worth waking up in the wee hours . All in all a very enjoyable experience !

Room Tip: Valley view rooms are good.

Location is in the heart. Food is average though served in large quantities. It seems they are stuck in the old times, though it would help if cuisine could be made more contemporary and authentic. Service is good and the staff would help you though they are untrained. Summing up, it seems they are stuck in 60-70's though it is a notch above other hotels nearby.

Room Tip: Family with kids should take the rooms facing the road since children's play area is just outsid...
