Location is amazing: Walking distance from the market, still pretty serene.
Located among tall trees, you can always hear birds around.
Rooms are very clean and well maintained, room service is prompt.

Food is average.
Even thought the Hotel is pure veg, the variety is limited.
Lunch hall is pretty clean and well maintained.
Breakfast and dinner is at poolside, which is pretty amazing.
However there's too many flies at the breakfast time and that needs to be addressed.

Live music at dinner is pretty nice.

I will definitely stay there again. Not so sure if I will eat there though.

Room Tip: Back side rooms are nice and quiet.

Indeed a well maintained property catering all segments from Groups to Sweet hearts. Excellent hospitality, recreation and catering facilities. One of the best gazal nights I have ever experienced. Its a good 15 minute walk from the city center which is compensated by the amazing landscape gardens.

However the focus is money making... The basic rooms are shady, congested and suffocating as against the clean rooms on the site. In spite of single digit occupancy, we paid a hefty sum to be upgraded to suite, however the upholstery was in shady condition. The room smelled damp on arrival :( You have stray dogs, cats and monkeys to escort you everywhere.

Advisable to go just before peak season to avoid such a negotiating condition...

Room Tip: Check the room and then check in. Best are bungalow suites/ Family Suites than deluxe or standard ro...

We had booked the basic - economy package available on net and ended up with a made up room (very different room from their other rooms, congested yet well maintained.) behind the front desk itself!. I also feel it was not originally designed to be a hotel room considering its approach way. It seemed like their staff member were staying on other floors disturbing us with their noon chit chat. Once you complain about the room and ask for a different one, they will say other economy rooms are not available but we can upgrade to super deluxe rooms by paying some extra bucks. Other rooms are decent/good.

Once you upgrade to better rooms rest of your stay is good.
Food is very good. Location away from main area thus feels good.

It was true value for money. Excellent food and room ambience. Five star facilities at very reasonable rate. Staff was very co-operative and smiling. I would prefer this hotel only for next time. You don't have to spend extra penny, all time meals- breakfast, lunch, evening breakfast and dinner provided in hotel.

Nice Property... But as i said in my Title- an aging property. Needs a facelift. Although they have started renovationg the rooms. I was offered a new room on request. The old room was pathetic (my bedroom is better). The staff was courteous enough. Food is excellent. The property needs some maintenance and uplift. Else an average experience.

Room Tip: Ask for new rooms. The old ones are really weared off.

We had gone to mathersn and stayed at ushaascout. We had excellent experience in the hotel. We had booked luxury villas. The rooms very well furnished, clean. The food was excellent. The service was very good. The kids had a blast. We think that it is the best hotel in matheran offering many activities. They had arranged night safari with mashals to alexender point. The kids enjoyed it as they had a new experience tracking at night. Thanks to them my whole family enjoyed the relaxing stay
