This resort is truely a mini Matheran in itself. The view is awesome & scenic. It would leave u spellbound if u are there in right season.Luckily we were there in early october and it was raining.
The resort is full of activities for whole family & couples.
The services are good & there is variety in food. But good things comes with a price. So pay the price & you wud enjoy.

Arrived in pieces having just fallen off our motorcycle. Hotel provided medical first aid kits to patch ourselves up, lots of scotch in the comfortable bar, arranged transport for medical attention, etc. Wonderful...staff were caring and very helpful. Food was good with great choice (buffet style), especially breakfast...good choice of Indian and Continental. Rooms are basic and the bathrooms are a bit rough, but the rest makes up for it. Great location. Advice...take care on the water filled potholes in the monsoon...what looks like a puddle can be nasty potholes!

Room Tip: Poolside rooms are good location, with veranda overlooking valley.

its most shocking because we had our 2 dinners with street dogs around out tables...and the surprising part is nobody from the hotel was ready to look seriously in this matter...how can you go to the tandoor chicken counter when dogs are wondering around the same....even the rooms were also not up to the mark....uncleaned dinning hall.....ignore if some body suggest you to this hotel.

Room Tip: dont try this....

Brightlands resorts is a fun filled resort, there is not a single dull moment there.Had a cool dip in the swimming pool just layzing around and relaxing. I have visited matheran many a times before but this year it was a memorable visit. The food is delicious as they have all types of variety that can keep our taste buds tingling right from the breakfast layout right upto dinner. The evenings are very pleasant and lively.

I have been going to this resort for last 16-17 years. Over the years, I enjoyed staying at this place with family and friends, almost making annual visits. The hotel has not been maintained the way once it was, especially toilets in the rooms. Family rooms are plenty and large to accomodate 3-4 member families and we have had good time. Lately, I found that toilets are not maintained well and needs repairs and maintenance. Staff is ever friendly which is one of the reason to visit this place. Another issue is quality of guests has certainly deteriorated, which affects use of swimming pool and cleanliness at the hotel. Food is good but lately the variety of food it used to offer is on decline. May be rates the hotel offers do not allow it anymore. Natural surrounding is great and refreshing. Overall the hotel offer good value for money.

Room Tip: Go for family room if you are more than 3-4. Cottages are of good size.

Brightland Resorts, Matheran is a very expensive resort for the quality of both its boarding and lodging. We checked it recently for a three days family package for a cost of nearly Rs. 20,000/- We have been going to Matheran every year for the last 15 years and have stayed at several different resorts and hotels. We had stayed at Brightland earlier also about 11 years back but it was quite good in those days. Their property is huge but this stay was very painful for various reasons. We had to followup with the staff several time to get the rooms cleaned. Still the TV, Wardrobe and tables were very shabby. The quality of bed-sheets, mattresses and pillows was awful. For the three days stay, we were able to get the sheets changed only once and that too after a lot of followup. Basic things like soaps, mosquito mats etc. was provided after a lot of followup. These things are expected to be done on its own and I have never had to followup for these in other similar cost-wise hotels in Matheran and other holiday destinations around Mumbai and elsewhere. The quality of the staff at the reception, house-keeping and dining hall was pathetic. They were hand-picked villagers and most of them were very young and raw and had no idea on how to talk to guests or how to handle their requirement. The worst part was their food. As their package includes meals, they made sure that it was worst to ensure their maximum profitability. The selection of dishes very clearly showed how much they value controlling their cost. To top most items were made horribly with maximum chilly possible. This was to ensure that you are not able to eat beyond a point. The desert was bad with mostly was some diluted milk preparations. You would experience a similar meal if you were to attend the marriage of one of your servants (no offence meant), as they can’t afford it and you would go there to fulfil a social obligation and would come back happy after giving them a reasonable amount of gift. There guys are not similar. You have paid through your nose and they are cheating you by giving you sub-standard food. A complaint to them entailed an immediate response that no one else is complaining. We later realised after checking with other guests that even they are facing issues and are complaining to no avail and we also got to know that the owner is no longer running the place himself but he has let it out to a person for a lump sum annual deal. The guy running the show is therefore out to make a quick buck as his credibility is not at stake. Moreover, we found that many of the rooms have been given as company guest houses for long term stay and cheap rates and so he is fleecing individual guests like us. Guests coming to the several company guest houses will not find the treatment shabby as they are not paying anything. Moreover many would not be aware about the services to expect from such an expensive place. They were also holding a one day Sales event for 100+ young Sales personnel of a company who created such a nuisance which I cannot describe here. Net net the place is best avoidable unless your company is putting you up there and even then you must go back and complain to your Admin / HR.

We have gone through our records and have no records of this visitor having visited our resort, the details given in by this visitor seems from a competitor and is very unlikely and to misguide other travelers and defame our resort.

Our resort is rather a one up resort in line with the other hotels in matheran. The food quality has always been the best and for ages we have been living up to the expectations of various guest catering to the needs of Gujarati, Parsi, Punjabi, Goan food etc. Brightlands is the only resort in matheran serving the guest with non-vegetarian delicacies.

The Resort is a heritage property with mainly cottage structure in its natural form with modern emenities within.
