My wife & I spent a weekend at Westend, and much to our satisfaction, we had an experience of a lifetime. We were cordially greeted by our Surname upon arrival in the evening. Our welcome drink was a cup of ginger flavoured tea that set us in the mood for a gala time in the monsoon. The staff was very helpful and the ambience superb! The self-contained rooms wer well maintained.Talking about the food I can vouch that apart from all the wonderful menu that's on the buffet, the Chatni chicken is to die for. Many beautiful points ar at walking distance from this place. All in all the place is a total value for money. So without hesitation, go ahead an plan your stay here to have memories for life.

Room Tip: The ones away from the pool are more quieter.

We spend a week of this summer vacation at Matheran and I am happy to say that we were more than pleased with our stay at Westend Hotel. The ambience, the facilities, the ever smiling service, all made for a perfect holiday of peace and constant fun! The rooms are exquisite, especially the old heritage ones with sky high ceilings and wooden latticed windows and antique lamps! It was like entering another world…an olden world of wooden verandahs overlooking the forest, of prettily patterned mosaic tiles and wonder of wonders…of sleeping in a four poster bed! Westend has a quiet elegance that few of the other hotels can hope to match. Holiday activities like badminton, carom, a super clean swimming pool and daily family entertainment (jugglers and magic and puppet shows) ensured our little one was constantly delighted. Thank you Westend for a happy holiday… we can’t wait to return!

Room Tip: Go for the larger rooms with the wooden verandah's...you'll have a bird's eye view and y...

just wondering where to book and thought will chk with the reviews of tripadvisor. Found the earlier reviews of west end a bit satisfactory about place and food. And it was a good decision. Nice resort with good place for kids to play. Meals beside the swimming pool created good ambience [not available during rainy season] and gave a feeling that you are in a jungle. Rooms are with pool facing and garden facing , both good. Quick service with smile. The most important thing was they bothered for client satisfaction. Went for 2 nights but extended for one more 4th june to 7th june. the Juggler show , magic show and puppet show was great.

We landed up at Westend Hotel by just reading the reviews. Had a 3 nights stay from 2nd June to 5th June 2012. We reached at 9.30 am on 2nd June since the check in time was given as 10 am. However we were informed that the check in time was 11.am. Anyway we got complimentary breakfast and were allotted a room at 12.15 pm. Hotel is quite clean with clean water in the taps though the water given for bathing was dark brown/black. Food is good, and housekeeping too. It was a good stay. Worth the money. The property is quite large with a lot of trees giving a rustic feel unlike the other hotels in Matheran. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: all rooms are well kept. Of course don't expect luxury.

Westend Hotel with 29 cottages and 2 tents are brimming with old world charm, what with their beautiful old British-style preserved architecture and spacious verandas. From the minute you step in, you almost wonder if such hotels exist. And to think, its mere 2 hours away from the hustle and bustle of city life. Tucked away in the forest, all you will see are the tree tops and hear only the sounds of the forest. The beautiful Lake Charlotte is just 10 minutes away as is the main bazaar and a few of the famous viewpoints. The sole aim of the hotel is to make you relax. Trek through the forest, amble along the natural red mud paths, take a horse ride to the various tourist attractions, play the numerous indoor-outdoor games, soak in the silence or just laze on the hammocks, there's enough and more to keep you busy for as long as your stay. And whatever you choose to do, you'll certainly leave with a rejuvenated mind. ... more   less
