“A Good Find in an Unusual Place”
Reviewed August 10, 2013 via mobile

This was my third trip to Piero's. The town is a little boardwalk type strip surrounded by some fantastic wineries with pastoral scenery. Piero's is a gem. We sat and watched while the owner made us delicious pasta a few feet away. The food was fantastic, the service excellent, and the place was small, simple and charming. It is the star of that strip, but look carefully because the entrance is the only understated one for a mile.

“Diamond In The Rough”
Reviewed August 10, 2013 via mobile

We did not expect to find this quality of Italian food when we entered the restaurant. The menu is posted on a large white board over the kitchen which adjoins the dining room! Our service was excellent. We had bruschetta which I honestly didn't care for. It had a lot of celery in it. We had eggplant marinara sauce and Italian sausage in marinara. Both dishes were very good. The red sauce is excellent. Portions were large and we honestly could have split one dinner. Because we were traveling we couldn't take the leftovers which was a shame. I thought the prices seemed a little high but it is a resort town. All in all it was a great meal and we'd recommend it.

“Unique little Italian joint”
Reviewed August 7, 2013

The food is prepared as you watch and tastes great! The atmosphere is very fitting for the night life on the strip. It's a tiny, dark, and warm little restaurant that is tucked away. But, once again, the food is awesome!

Be aware, the owner / cook can be very rude, down right mean, to his staff and has a rather bad temper (though it appears to slowly be getting better over the years). This we have seen happen far more than we feel it should. By the way, the food is really good. Sadly it gets very warm inside during the hot summer months, hot enough to make mention of it. Speaking of mentioning, did I mention the food? Because THAT is what keeps us coming back. Be mindful, his prices are high and other than bread, nothing else comes with the meal ... But then again, you get a full plate and I might have mentioned it tastes incredible.

“Food was average but overpriced for the atmosphere”
Reviewed August 1, 2013

Service was very good but the atmosphere was subpar. The portions were decent size and the food was average at best. Certainly not worth what they charged. We had the bruschetta as an appetizer and I had chicken Alfredo and my wife had spaghetti with meat sauce. The bruschetta had celery in it- never had that before. The chicken in the Alfredo was grilled and tender but was not trimmed well and had grizzle and fat on it. The meat sauce on my wife's spaghetti was average at best. Too pricey for the quality of the food and the atmosphere. The restaurant has no a/c and is VERY dated in appearance. We probably would not return.

“Authentic Cuisine in a Honky Tonk Town”
Reviewed August 1, 2013

Piero's is run by Gian Piero, a native Italian who can, at first glance, seem a little gruff and more than a little intimidating. Get to know him a bit and you'll discover he's a charming fellow with an interesting tale to tell about how he landed in a small resort town in eastern Ohio. Putting aside personalities, here, though, the food is excellent. Piero cooks it (mostly) by himself in a kitchen that's so close to the dining room it seems like an integral part of it. His pasta is tasty and always cooked to perfection. The sauces are flavorful and become part of, but don't overpower, the pasta. He does some very nice seafood dishes, depending on what's fresh. Seafood is usually grilled. Keep in mind this is a casual restaurant. It can be close quarters. It can be a little hot. But it's well worth the stop, and coming from Pittsburgh (2.5 hours away), this is a must stop for us.
