We have dined at Piero's multiple times every summer, and the meal never fails to amaze us. The mussels, puttanesca, any seafood pastas, bolognese, are out if this world. It's an experience. Can't wait for May to arrive and we can start the season again.

We happened upon this restaurant last weekend when we were unable to catch the local taxi to somewhere else. It's a very small restaurant. The chef is a character and the staff was very accommodating when we indicated 2 more were on their way but they were already putting their closed sign out. They waved them on in once they arrived. This place is towards the end of the strip and somehow we have never eaten there before on previous trips to the area. The menu is written on a whiteboard above the kitchen area which is right out in the open so you can watch him prepare your meal. The caesar salad was very fresh, extremely crisp and delicious. We enjoyed the pasta puttanesca, a pasta with pancetta, peas and mushrooms in an alfredo sauce, etc. The chef came over and talked to us once our meals were served and said he had been there for 16 years. They discovered it was someone's birthday and brought over a couple of desserts. Very friendly people and an enjoyable dinner.

We vacation at Geneva-on-the-Lake every summer. Piero's is a MUST! We have visited many times in the past four years and always have a great experience. The restaurant is in a corner of former movie theater which adds to the charm. This is NOT a chain restaurant with reheated portions. Everything is cooked right in the front where you can see, the food is authentic and the ingredients are fresh. I have always found the service to be top notch. There are several employees and everyone stays busy. The Mussels a la Piero my choice (and my 16 year old son's choice as well) for a fantastic appetizer and I almost always have the Corvina (fish) and it is out of this world good. The restaurant is small and there is no air conditioning but the food quality makes up for all of that and more! A++++ Recommend!

We arrived early and placed our order. After 45 minutes and seeing everyone else being served, I asked our waitress if there was a problem. Without any apologies, she said they had lost our order, as if it happened all the time and it was not there problem.

This little restaurant could have potential. The food is prepared right in front of you as the kitchen is open. That is cool. The owner and cook - JP - is unfortunately scary and most often crabby. HIs wife Cindy, is nice enough. Then there are other relatives that always seem to be lurking about and a few random teenage girls who awkwardly seat you and beg to remove dishes that you have not quite finished. Weird at best.

And for some reason - perhaps to cut cost - they only allow the bottle of oil, used to dip your bread, to remain on the table for an initial few minutes. Then a random server who keeps an eye on you - sneaks by and removes the oil from the table. The same goes for the cheese. You have to ask for it - and then it is whisked away amidst your meal. This evening the women with whom I was dining - requested additional cheese. JP overheard this and shouted across the restaurant - "don't put any cheese on that. Try it without. You will ruin the dish." Excuse me -but my friend is an adult and is intelligent enought to decide if her palate requires cheese.

Next - the place is a bit dirty. The back area that houses the restroom, is disgusting. Old shoes and clothing form a line against the wall. The bathroom is gross too. It makes you wonder about the cleanliness of the prep kitchen in the back.

The red sauces are a tad sour. The white cream sauces are typically bland (they need more cheese and garlic) Sometimes the gelato is old and icey. I am sorry - I want this to be really good - but it's really just ok. And JP - don't yell at your customers. That's bad - really, really bad manners. Umm ... could you pass the oil? Oh yeah - my three minutes are up!
