I was really surprised to find a hotel of this type in Jabalpur. Though it is believed to be a heritage property as it has been renovated and draws its name from a legendary hotel of the yore called the Jackson, it isn't exactly Heritage. Nothing of the old structure remains except for a few old photographs. I checked into the hotel as I was lured into the Heritage tag. The hotel , rooms and facilities are all very well appointed and at 4500/- rupees a night with breakfast, They also have a good multi- cuisine restaurant , an outdoor garden restaurant a bar , a gym and a small swimming pool. I would say it was good value for money. In a bigger city a hotel of this type would not cost less than 10,000/- a night. In my latest series of exploration of the tier two and tier three cities in India I am amazed at the way infrastructure has improved over the last decade ,more so in the last five years. The impact of globalization and trade is evident everywhere. I am seeing an ever increasing number of well travelled Indians even in small towns who were already enterprising enough. The travel is bringing in exposure and ensuring international class infrastructure . The penetration of the MNCs in smaller towns is also helping push up the benchmark . The local entrepreneurs are soon following suit and this is constantly improving the facilities and amenities in smaller towns.. Will continue to bring readers information from smaller towns and cities in India.
