Just got back from The Rappa and boy, we enjoyed every minute of our stay there. We were 3 families along with 2 naughty brats who decided to visit the rappa for a 1 day vacation, we reached there on the 12th of November by 10AM. We were ably guided by CB(rockstar) and were accorded a grand welcome by CB along with his team of the most adorable dogs in the world(Milo, Tootsie, Tingu & a couple of other cutie pies and Mr Turkey, guinea fowls and the entire Geese family :) )

One look at the place and you are bound to be mesmerized with the beautiful scenic location of the resort and the river right in front of your cottages, please do not expect anything fancy, this is a no-frills place, but you cannot help but fall in love with nature all over again. Prices are very reasonable considering the fact that you get breakfast, 2 meals, coffee and snacks, water sports, archery, ropeclimbing etc. Worth every penny that you spend.
The kayaking was the best part of the trip for all of us, you will not be allowed to enter the waters without your life jackets(MANDATORY), Their staff (Nagesh,Ashok and Pradeep) are really helpful and courteous and will spare no efforts in making your stay there a pleasant experience. The food was awesome(veg & non-veg), homely food and left us licking our fingers. The dining room also doubles up as a music and dance floor and you are welcome to party as long as you want( as long as you don't cross the accepted limits of decency).

CB was the perfect host, ever gracious and accommodating all our requests, he will do everything possible to help you have a great time at the rappa. He made us feel at home. we were supposed to leave on the 13th of November, but we were so floored by the place that we decided to extend our stay by another day.

Loved every minute of our stay there, HIGHLY RECOMMEND for all who wanna have a great and relaxing time away from all our busy hectic boring city lives that we lead. We are already planning our next trip here very soon :)

Our Stay in Rappa was refreshing and amazing!!... a perfect place to relax and enjoy ... the place is located among the nature and away from the city life... the staff at the resort are very cooperative... Sibi played the perfect host and we are very happy with the service... the cottage where we stayed was good & the food was tasty... overall the place is very nice for people who would want to have a good & refreshing time ...away from the busy city life and not expecting the five or three star service as provided in the city..also if you are an animal lover then you would really enjoy the company of Sibi's pets!!

Great place to relax and rejuvenate.

Pros:
Really worth 1700 you pay.
Great place for Kayaking and swimming.
Away from the noisy world.
Island with greenery.
Good food for non-vegetarians.

Cons:
Some cottages are not well maintained.
Veg food not great and lacks variety.
More kayaks needed.
Need some more water sport activities.

A lost destination cozily stuffed away from the hustle and bustle of the city life… I personally found it to be a very down to earth ‘no frills’ weekend getaway place. You have to be an animal lover (at least a dog lover) to go to this resort coz there are lots and lots of friendly dogs who will ensure you are entertained and given proper company at all times!

Water sports like kayaking, swimming in the river and coracle rides are a highlight of the trip here. The place is also great for nature lovers with good trails to do your nature walks or just a lazy leisurely stroll.

We went here in the peak monsoon season, so will share a few of the observations from what we saw and experienced in the weekend.

First is the list of the things that I absolutely enjoyed here:
1)The amazingly friendly dogs on the property! They know how to keep you company at all times!
2)Kayaking, swimming in the river and the coracle rides were super fun. Something that I would love to do again.
3)The partners Sibbi and Vijay ensuring that you are comfortable and use the property like your own.
4)The food is basic but tasty. Only quam I have here is that they don’t give sweets/desserts with every meal (this turns into a problem for sweet tooth people like me)
5)The rustic charm of the place with its birds, animals and locals at all time.
6)You can just sit the whole day under the tree observing the day pass by and still not get bored of the experience.

Now is the list of the things that need some attention from the owners:
1)The wild grass that surrounds the tents and cottages and along the walkways needs to be manicured.
2)The bathrooms need to be a bit more clean with basic facilities to hang your clothes and toiletries while you take a shower
3)Either install health faucets or provide tissue rolls or a separate bucket for guests to clean their ‘nether posteriors’ after daily ablutions.
4)General cleanliness and maintenance of the property needs attention. We noticed a lot of booze bottles/cans strewn across the property all the way till the river bank.
5)Please also arrange for dustbins in/around the rooms with regular cleaning of the same. I noticed a bunch of used sanitary pads near one of the cottages and that is unacceptable and unhygienic.

Over all I would like to visit this place again on a quiet day when there aren’t too many guests and just relax and enjoy the river and nature of this place. Full marks for their hospitality.

Route : Started from Hebbal, Bangalore -> took a right from Hebbal flyover on the ring road -> took right from the Tumkur Road to Nenmangala (take the toll road - 20 bucks) -> Left on Bangalore-Mangalore highway (see the sign boards above) -> continue on the road for 160 kms till Hassan - you should get 2 tolls of Rs 36 each -> take the bypass road for the Hassan City - Just keep going straight from the junction -> you should see a Reliance Petrol pump on ur right -> Take the 2nd left after the pp - road isnt that great but manageable -> continue on this road till u get a bridge on Gorur Hemavathi Reservoir -> take left after this bridge and keep going for another 6 kms for The Rappa.

6 of us started from Hebbal, Bangalore at around 6am on a Saturday morning. We took two cars - 3 each, pretty comfortable. Stopped at Mayura Hotel for break fast(around 100kms from Bangalore, just after the 2nd toll booth).

Saw a lot of Super Bikes on the way zooming by us. Met them again in the Mayura Hotel.

Reached the place around 11-11.30. Met with CB and Vijay whom we already spoke to regarding the booking and all (get the current packages from their website http://www.therappa.com/), pretty good ppl. Keep talking to them to get more friendly and to get the best out of this place. There were 2-3 more groups already before we reached. We were 6 and took the first cottage. All the cottages accommodates 6. Cottages are just adequate in size and there is enough place for 6 to sleep. Pretty good view from the cottage.

* Please dont go in the water without the life jackets or else you will get a good one from CB and Vijay (for ur own safety)

- You can have fun playing and swimming in the water specially in groups.
- Take your own foot ball or volley ball if you like.
- Make sure to take a cosco ball if you like dogs- tutsi specially
- Go for Kayaking in the evening around 4.30-5pm or morning around 7-10am when its less sunny. Its lot of fun, and the good thing is that you can do it the first day evening and next day morning as well with no extra charges :)
- Food is just fine - dont expect much and you should be happy.
- Carry enough smoke and booze for yourself, there are no shops around.
- Bonfire is pretty good with all the music - you can also carry ur own CDs
- You can also dance on the music, just make sure to be in control and you can have a lot of fun.
- There is no stopping from anything unless you disturb others or create any problems or its unethical.

We went for Kayaking again next day morning, had breakfast after that and left before lunch (but the lunch was included in the package) at around 11. Met the Super Bike group again on the way back and followed them to Shark food Court for lunch at around 3. Reached back to Bangalore at 5pm.

All together a Great Week End.

These ppl are also building some new AC Rooms. It would definitely be good.
Must go place.

We were initially apprehensive about Rappa after some of the negative reviews.
It was a last minute decision and we decided to go to Rappa with minimal expectations. We reached there and the lovely dogs (especially Shunti) made us feel like we were long lost family members. We immediately warmed up to the place.
Vijay and Sibi are awesome hosts and are always available for any kind of assistance.
Kayaking and swimming in the river was awesome. Driving to the nearby island, having a drink and just lazing around made us feel like we were in heaven.
Oh boy, the midnight spin with Vijay in his car was mindblowing. His experience in rally driving clearly was visible.
Once you get into the good books of Vijay, he treats you like his close friends and makes your visit truly memorable. But if you get into his bad books, may the lord save u

We werent expecting much from the food but it certainly was delicious
Cant wait to visit Rappa again
