It is outside the main city but stands true to its name of solace. You really find it there. The view is breathtaking and so is the service. The rates are very very genuine and so are the people who will give you the very best advice for all needs related to kullu.

The name is just apt for the location, for the view from the balcony is bound to take you into the midst of heavenly abode. It had snowed at Jalori pass the night before and the snow capped pass/mountain was visible from our room at one end, and more snow capped mountains to the farther end, and pine forest covering the valley and mountains on the opposite side.
Our trip from Manali to Kinnaur took us through Shoja, bringing us to Solace retreat to stay a night. As it was cloudy and raining the day we were there, the temperature had dipped, and we had nothing to do but to eat and rest the day away.
The food was simple but was nothing less than heavenly. The hot fresh rotis and sabzis I'd dare say would have been the best, amazing and simplest of foods that I've had in a long time.
The rooms are basic and simple for the price, but considering the remoteness of the place and three square meals of amazing food, I'll say it evens out.
Don't expect a large property. Solace retreat is set among village houses, and with Banjara Retreat's Sojha property right below. If you'r expecting privacy, with houses near by, the only place you'd find complete privacy is within your room. Fortunately the locals are warm and friendly enough to exchange pleasantries.

Room Tip: During our stay we were the only occupants and so I expect we'd have got the best room. This is...

This was our second trip to Kullu in 2 years and also are second stay at Solace Retreat. We had obviously tried the property before and therefore returned to stay again. It may not be as good as Munar or Binsar, however it is probably the best in Kullu.

Again the package was booked from Manaliwonder.com as they gave us very good all inclusive package from Delhi last time at reasonable rates with discounts on hotel , travel , food , sightseeing etc

The property is located in a quite area of Kullu. It is close to all important sightseeing points and restaurants. The views of the snow clad mountains from this Hotel are breathtaking; one can spend the entire day in one’s room staring at the valley and the snow mountains.

Now about the property, the hotel has rooms on two floors each floor having a glass balcony which have been tastefully decorated and you can a clear view of mountains around you.

As we stayed for 2 weeks in 2 visits, this gave us sufficient time to survey the other properties in and around Kullu for comparison purposes. We visited the Holiday Inn and Solang Valley Resorts. Believe me, Solang Valley resorts is extremely hyped, the hotel has the best location in Kullu, However the rooms and interiors are disappointing for the price charged. Further the rooms are small and the toilets are pathetically done up. Holiday Day Inn in my opinion needs to change its name and category. It’s probably a 3 star categorized as a 5 star.

We explored the outdoors and did some adventure. We took a trek to serolsar lake along with kids which is about 10 km from resort and includes 5 km drive to Jalori pass and 5km trek (comfortable hike) and made night camp in tent at Serolsar lake which was arranged by Manu (owner) which was a great experience for us and kids also. We also went for picnic on the banks of Tirthan river famous for fresh water trout.

On the whole, Solace Retreat is value for money.Staying here is better than manali. Good Luck and enjoy your stay!! Many thanks again to Vishal from Manaliwonder for assisiting & remembering us 2 years after :)

Manu's hospitality is commendable... His idea of providing comfortable accomodation in off-beat Himachal has really taken off very well... Clean basic rooms, great location & friendly staff make this place worth every penny spent...
For first time trekkers like us, Manu made a great arrangements that left us with memories to cherish...

Room Tip: Would recommend Valley side rooms on first floor..

We had gone for summer vacation from Bangalore with visit to Manali ,Kullu and finally Sojha. The Drive from Manali is about 3 hrs . The solace retreat was recommended to us by a friend who likes nothing else than to revert back to Solace retreat, so we were very curious to see this place. the first thing that hits your senses after the hustle bustle of a normal tourist place is the complete silence ,we are so used to city sounds that we have really not known what silence means and how energizing it can be . On arrival we were met by Mr. Manu (owner) who had organised a lavish tea knowing about our arrival beforehand. The first impression you get of the property is back to nature as the management of this property have tried to keep it as near to nature as possible w/o really compromising on the comfort of the guests. Sipping tea with pakoras and sandwiches in the dining hall which is on the top floor and watching green mountains right in front is an experience which cannot be described in words. there are rooms on two floors each floor having a glass balcony which have been tastefully decorated and you can a clear view of mountains around you .On a clear day you can see five mountain ranges right up to snow clad dhauladhar . The climate is cold and as such you require warm clothing. The staff especially, jogindar and mamu took special care to see we were comfortable and kept my kids entertained. We also took a trek to serolsar lake alongwith kids which is about 10 km from resort and includes 5 km drive to jalori pass and 5km trek (comfortable hike) and made night camp in tentage at serolsar lake which was arranged by manu (owner) which was a gr8 experience for us and kids also. Next day we went for picnic to the banks of Tirthan River which is famous for fresh water trout, we were provided with packed lunch by the retreat people. Final two days we relaxed at the retreat reenergizing and distressing ourselves and enjoying the hospitality of the retreat staff. The exception of the trip was the great food and homely atmosphere that the retreat could provide us being so far away from home. Finally we bade good bye to the staff whom my kids had become very fond of with the promise to come back next year.
If you are looking for shopping, discos, movies then the place is definitely not for you, but if you are looking for peace, connecting with nature, yourself and quality time your family or friends then i would definitely recommend solace retreat.

We were introduced to Solace Retreat by a Travel Agent. The location of the retreat is perfect. A gr8 place for relaxation, away from hustle and bustle in the laps of nature. Nature is at its best. Not at all a fancy place but rather more on the cosier and homely side. The food served here is the best i ever had in a hill station. Very friendly staff, goes out of the way to make your stay comfortable and memorable.......................
The owner Mr. Manu is a gr8 guy to sit and chat with, very knowledgeable abt local culture and nature, a very lively guy. Sham Singh (Mamu) is another gem in thr team who knows almost everything abt local herbs and traditional medicines. One must take him along on treks or nature walks. Very difficult to find such humble peoples......................
A must must place to visit, Full endorsements.................
