We were given rooms in basement, which were quite chilly and were provided with the room heaters. On request we were shifted to the cozier rooms. I would say Christmas weekend was a reason for this hiccup. Otherwise, we booked through www.goibibo.com (3 rooms). We had inquired about possibility of 1 family dropping their plans and had asked what would be the procedure for partial cancellation then. Well, later on we confirmed that all the guests are arriving & please keep our booking intact. To our surprise, on our arrival "GM Sab" as he is called, said that you have only 2 rooms, as cancellation has come from the website. Well, upon some serious discussion and we leaving the issue on mercy of Dalhousie Heights and goibibo as we had not asked for any modifications, our rooms were provided. Out of the entire episode, behavior of "GM Sab" was upsetting.
Otherwise, rooms are good, staff is very co-operative and buffet breakfast was decent.
They must teach "GM Sab" that he is into "hospitality" business.

I had been there with family for 3 days and let me tell you that the experience was amazing and one of its kind. The view from hotel room was very scenic and it will leave all ur worries behind . The staff was very helpful and always had a smile on their face which is very commendable. The food was also very delicious. This place is very close from the Main bus stop hence a very easy access to the main road. Comfort, beautiful location, superb service and mouth watering food--- this place has all wat it takes to make ur stay memorable hence I am definitely gonna go to this place again when I visit Dalhousie. A very strong recommendation to others...

We were in what they called Super Deluxe rooms. While there was not much in room to call it super deluxe but rooms were spacious and clean. Next to bus stand so conveniently located. In the middle of the town, you don't expect any views from room, but nevertheless oak trees outside make you feel good about opening the windows.
Approach to the hotel is through a narrow dirty lane and hardly any space for parking.

Food was bad to say the least. We could not eat almost anything. Even the butter they gave was rancid and bread was stale. C'mon it takes some effort to do that in the Cold October weather of Dalhousie.

Good thing, there are food options nearby. We chose a Gujarati restaurant nearby which served a decent fare from their limited off season menu that included some south Indian options as well.

OK to stay but don't dare to eat here.

Pros: Near Bus Stand, Value for Money, Clean rooms
Cons: Run of the mill hotel, Food quality is average

It gets really cold in Dalhousie during winter so make sure you opt for a room heater (at extra cost) is possible

Room Tip: Royal Classic Deluxe is a good option

I stayed at this resort last month for 4nights with family. Super deluxe & Royal classic rooms give a nice view of the beautiful valley, lake, forests and are very well maintained with latest facilities. Staff is very polite and we were extremely happy with hospitality. This property offers the best facilities in this beautiful hill town and is very centrally located. Do not miss to go for a walk on Lovers' lane where you get a beautiful view of Thein dam and Himalayan fauna & flora. Dalhousie Heights serves yummy Mughlai food. Recommend butter chicken and paneer tikka to all travellers who love north Indian cuisine. Special thanks to the staff for making our stay comfortable. You can book your taxis for local and himachal trip through them as they get you a good deal. Will plan to visit this resort soon

We stayed at Dalhousie Heights the last week of April 2012. The hotel doesn't have a great location - it is located on a bylane from the main bus stand and if it rains, one has to traverse a lot of sludge and rubble lying around to get to the hotel. However, since its located just 50 meters from the taxi stand, we were able to quickly access the taxis when we had to move around to nearby places like Subhash Chowk and Gandhi Chowk (we took the cabs since we had our 2 yr old son with us). In terms of the room size, we had booked a deluxe room, and we got a room with a decent size and a balcony which looks over a lot of greenery. There is a side view of the Ranjit Sagar dam. However, I was expecting much more since I had read a lot about how other hotels offer magnificent views of snow-clad peaks - I saw nothing from our hotel. The room was on the 2nd floor but there are no lifts. The room service was prompt but left some things to desire. For example, each time we would order tea, it would arrive cold since the 'kitchen is in the basement and it gets cold while coming up all the way to the second floor ' - as told by the serving staff. So, we asked if we could have a tea maker in the room (standard practice in most good hotels) - they got us one but again, gave us just 2 sachets of tea / sugar / milk. These are small things but they tend to linger on in one's mind long after you check out and leave for home. We ordered Chinese food one night and it was actually a very domestic version of Chinese - with heaps of cabbage and 'tarka' - it felt like the stuff we had in college canteen when we were students and on a budget! Breakfast consisting of alu paratha or poori - bhaji was much better and tastier. It was cold and rainy outside when we visited Dalhousie so there was no need for any airconditioning - the geyser was working fine so we were happy. The staff had smiles on their faces most of the time so that put most guests at ease. Overall, it is a good hotel for a short stay but beyond that not much to look forward to.

Hotel Dalhousie Heights is an poor to average hotel based on what you are used to.If you have an option , please take it. The Hotel overlooks a interstate bus stand.. The road/ lane to the hotel is so cramped that it will allow only one vehicle at a time. From our room we were offered this view. -the road , the bus stand , the noise . The waiting staff is good but the reception was NOT helpful --when the drain in our bathroom overflowed back into the room. The exhaust fan was not working . The gases flowed into the room -all this within 5 minutes of our arriving. The person at the reception refused to do anything more than call a cleaning boy. when I requested to change of room , he refused again. The reason he told us that the hotel was full when we could see that the occupancy was very low. The breakfast -dinner buffets were cancelled because of that. The manager had to be called and he changed the room for us. We were told this was the super-delux room. I shudder to think what a regular room might be.
