The first rail cum road bridge in Assam, also remembering the famous battle of Sarighat, where Ahom beat the mighty Mughals during the Ahom Kingdom.

An ordinary bridge with nothing special for tourists. The sunset view from the bridge is good, but vehicles are not allowed to stop due to heavy flow of traffic.
There is a small park nearby in honour of the Ahom heroes of the Battle of Saraighat against the Moghuls of Delhi.

This is a long bridge over mighty river Brahmaputra connection North and South Guwahati; to be more particular this connects Guwahati and all upper Assam and other states with rest of India by road/railways. One can enjoy the beauty of mighty Brahamaputra while crossing the bridge either by a train or by road. Due to increased traffic and frequent jams however it is easier enjoying the ride by a train.

Almost 50 years old vital link to north-eastern states, this bridge is still going strong and has served both the nation and the region relentlessly.

Saraighat Bridge is the first rail-cum-road bridge constructed over the Brahmaputra River in Guwahati, Assam . It was opened to traffic in 1963 by the then Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru.
The Saraighat Bridge over the river Brahmaputra, which is the vital link between North East region and the rest of the country, has completed 50 years of its existence . The experts gave the opinion that the structure and all the pillars of the bridge are in sound condition and the bridge would be able to serve the North East region of the country for years to come.

A pretty long bridge and it looked to me a bit dry. The pass over the bridge was fabulous, as I was able to enjoy the ride on the train.
