This is a local fish market like any other in India. Nothing special. Like any fish market it's crowded with locals.

This is a local market dealing in fish. It is located near the river Brahmaputra. It is basically a local people's market and not much recommended for tourists.

While in Guwahati recently and staying very close to river Brahmaputra beach I chanced to have an early morning walk. While appreciating the early morning beauty of the surroundings of the river and its beach, I admired the beauty of Memorial for Lachit Borphukan who took on the might of the mighty Mughals and has become symbol of Pride of Assam. While further on the beach I chanced upon this Fish Market and saw huge crowd at the early morning fish market. As I am vegetarian and do not have the knowledge of much of fish and its delicacies, I had a brief look at the crowd and the fish available there.

Uzan Bazar Fish Market, perhaps dates back to the days of Ahom Rulers. Situated at the banks of the River Brahmpautra at MG Road, adjacent to the walk ways of the Sati Radhikashanti Park the market boasts in selling only the "local" variety of fish. On the day of the "Uruka" (the day before Makar Shankranti) the market turns into a sea of thousands of buyers from almost all over Guwahati, really a sight to witness!

uzan Bazar fish market is just another fish market of India. Though in recent times they have succeeded to keep it clean.
