“Umananda Devaloi is a Shiva Temple”
Reviewed October 8, 2013

Umananda Devaloi is a Shiva Temple is located at the Peacock island in middle of river Brahmaputra just opposite the office of the Deputy Commissioner of Kamrup or the Kachari Ghat in Guwahati. It was built by the Ahom King Gadadhar Singha (1681-1696) who was a devout Shaivaite. The temple is located on the Pea cock Island (as named by some poetic British Administrator) in the middle of the river Brahmaputra at Guwahati. It is known as smallest inhabited Riverine Island in the World. Country boats that are available on the bank of Brahmaputra take the visitors to the island.

“Nice and beautiful island”
Reviewed August 27, 2013

This is the smallest river island in the heart of river Brahmaputra. Very beautiful view. Also there is famous temple Uma Nanda. You can find a very rare species of monkey there.

“Umananda Temple-Guwahati”
Reviewed August 2, 2013

One of the most beautiful attraction of Guwahati.Situated in the midst of mighty river Brahmaputra, the scenic beauty of this small island is just superb. And the people who know Hindu religion, know that there is a "Bhairab" for every "Bhairabi" temple. So this is the Bhairav of the great "Maa Kamakhya" temple. You will have to take a Govt. Lunch(Small ship) or hired boat to reach this island. And once you reach there just sitting on the sides of this island, will give you a view of Guwahati City & the mighty Brahmaputra.

“Ride is excellent to this island temple !!”
Reviewed July 28, 2013

The best thing about gods across the world is that they are sitting at very awesome locations everywhere. In this case, on a river island.

- Me and my wife hired full boat in Rs.400/- (April 2013) due to time constraints. However you can get the same in Rs.500/Divided by number of persons boarding the boat.

- Though we enjoyed however many find it not that good as the water is stinky and full of waste.

- We completed the trip in 30 mins as we are atheists and visited temple like visitors only.

- Pandas of Umananda temple else might pick you to do various ceremonies.

- Go to enjoy the ride (It's a must-do there) but don't keep your expectations high - hence averagely rated.
