“The River is an Awesome Host”
Reviewed April 29, 2013

The hotel is on the banks of the great Brahmaputra river and one has to stay on this wing to feel and experience the awesome sight early in the morning and late in the evening/early night. Open the window and you will witness a sight to behold! I have stayed in a double room each time : Standard or Superior. During those days, the rates were not much but have gone up since then. Still great value for money.
The hotel is situated on M.G. Road and Fancy Bazaar and Pan Bazaar are both close by. During evening time, a 10 minutes boat ride to the opposite side that houses superb temples is a great experience.

The rooms are splendid and superbly kept. The air conditioning which is so vital in these parts, is very powerful. Room service sets very high standards here. Food in the restaurant on ground floor is delicious especially the buffet breakfast. It's not a closed restaurant and this enables one to see guests passing through the lobby. The bar too is splendid and cozy although a trifle small.

I have been on business trips thrice to this hotel and have experienced nothing but the best of service, excellence in customer relationship displayed by the ever smiling team at the reception. Make a request just once and before you can say " Jack Robinson " the job is done.

The Laundry service too is outstanding and dot on time day in and day out.

The one area that needed an overhaul when I was last here in 2009, are wash rooms on the ground floor which are terribly kept and have poor facilities. And they can also think of a fitness center.

I would advise all visitors to Guwahati to stay here and feel the environment but try to get a room overlooking the great Brahmaputra river.

Room Tip: Always go for the side that overlooks the great river. However, the other wing is not bad and it has...

Hotel Brahmaputra Ashok in Guwahati reminded me of a business hotel were the best days have gone. The building and the room were not well maintained. The staff was friendly, but not engaged in their work. My room was spacious and had a very good view of the Brahmaputra River, which I enjoyed, and a good TV, but otherwise very drab. The food was ok, since I was not in the mood to walk the town in the rain to find a better! The hotel is well situated in the centre of Guwahati. For one night it was ok.

Room Tip: A room with a view is a must!

Stayed for two nights on 23rd and 24th March 2013. Overwhelmed by the beautiful view of Brahamputra River from my room located on 1st floor. On prior occasion I had stayed at 'Hotel Dayanasty' and I am very pleased for my decision to change the Hotel this time. Only one should ensure the clear River view from his room. All toiletries normally provided in a Good Star hotel provided. Food was very good.On my day of departure, though the time of breakfast was to start late, on my request at previous day night, the Management ensured to get me a 'Good breakfast' packed. Hospitality was very good. They welcome u with traditional Assamese 'Hat and Gamcha'. However due to its very big size, I could not take the Hat along with me. Nevertheless a very nice gesture. Very comfortable and spacious room. There are two restaurants. Advise for travelers to take paid meals on 1st floor as the price difference is huge without any difference in ambience or quality. The river view from the room seemed divine. There is a good Cruise facility approx 1 km away from Hotel which one can go to in the evening.

Overall Excellent and recommended for everybody

Room Tip: River Facing only

we had one of the best experiences at this place.. ASK FOR THE RIVERVIEW ROOM . the management was cooperative and restaurant service was excellent. the room service was great and regularly changed the linens and replenished the toiletries in the very clean bathroom. .
seeing the mighty brahmaputra river from your window is an overwhelming sight...great value for money.
DONT FORGET TO TAKE THE RIVER CRUISE IN THE EVENING, the jetty being a stones throw from the hotel. other handicraft emporiums are also close by.

Room Tip: river view room is preferable

Its location on the banks of Brahmaputra and large sized rooms are clear positives. But the public sector ownership seeps through every part of the hotel. Rooms can do with better cleaning. Lighting in the room and bath is poor. The airconditioning is noisy. Breakfast has very limited choice, especially for vegetarians. Fresh fruits are cut and kept soaked in a bowl of water with a dash of lemon juice. When I told the staff that I like my watermelon and papayas without being soaked in water, they were unable to help.
The rooms overlooking the river Brahmaputra provide visual relief. With such a nice location near the river, the hotel could have more imaginative about the dining arrangements and options. Staff should be trained to be hospitable.

Room Tip: Ask for rooms with a river view.

Stayed over night in Dec 2013 on a business trip. Sprawling property, nice location, away from hustle- bustle of the city yet not far. Rooms good, did not get the river view room. Breakfast good but not much choice in lunch, dinner; quakity of service needs to be improved. Overall found it suitable for families, however, the tarrifs are little upwards. Back side is a lawn/ground extending almost to the bank of river Brahmputra. Overall a decent property.

Room Tip: Insist on river facing rooms at second floor or above.

It is a govt tourism hotel 3 star rated. Location is excellent in Guwahati just on the bank of Brahmaputra very near to Kacharighat (O point of Guwahati). The High Court is just opposite. Panbazar / Fancy Bazaar & Paltan bazaar : the Rly station, Bus stand are within around 1 KM at the same time is free from Guwahati rush.
Pure Assamse style hospitality. Conference, parties etc are held here. A large space in front for parking etc and also large space at back upto Brahamaputra river.

3 star rated, It is a safe hotel for family also. Food OK . Assamese ethnic food are made available.

Room Tip: Facing Brahmaputra is better
