The accommodation is average but overpriced for what you get.
- The room smelled like urine and many areas of the hotel smelled like sewage as there is an open sewage running from the hotel to the beach.
- The hotel is not directly on the beach but you have to walk through a construction site to get to the beach.
- Food at the hotel is pretty good, not much selection if you are vegetarian.
- Rooms are damp and very basic. Overpriced for what you get.
- Location is fine close to one of the nicest beaches.
- Hotel looked better than most other hotels we saw on the island.
- At checkout, double check your bills as they are not very good at math and calculate everything manually.

The biggest problem we had was on arrival. We prepaid the hotel room and also paid for the hotel to purchase ferry tickets for me and my wife from Port Blair to the Island as they sell out very quickly and need to be purchased a day or two in advance.

On arrival in Port Blair the agent of the hotel only purchased one ticket even though we had a reservation for two and confirmed via email and sent in both of our ID cards to them.

This meant we would have to travel the next day, get a hotel in Port Blair and would loose one night already paid for at the Wild Orchid. The only response from the agent was that he didn't care and tough luck.

The one ticket they purchased for us was printed on someone else's ticket and they didn't want to give us the one ticket and had to get the police involved. A very unpleasant experience.

At the hotel nobody was aware that they messed up the ticket purchase, no apology, we had to follow up several times for a refund of the ticket they didn't buy and we had to buy one our own. We clearly got the impression they don't care other than taking your money. Especially since we paid a 2300% markup for them to buy the tickets for us in advance it was a very poor performance on the hotel's part.

If anything goes wrong don't rely on the hotel. Recommend planning in extra day in Port Blair to buy the tickets on your own to avoid the risk of the hotel messing it up again.

On occasion of our second anniversary we planned a trip to Andaman & decided to stay at Wild Orchid. The room we took was "style" which was a very good room. The staff & courtesy was commendable. The property is small but pretty. Its very near to the beach, inot too good for swimming in my opinion as it is shallow for a very loooong stretch with some vegetation covering the whole stretch.

The downsides are, there is no intercom in the room. You have to walk up to the restaurant if you want room service and they would charge 20% extra just to deliver in the room. The breakfast menu has no choice for vegetarians & you have to eat Aloo Paratha for your entire stay (even the Bread is made from Egg).

All in all we faced no problems & our stay was pleasant.

Room Tip: Sekect "Style" room & avoid if you are vegetarian.

We stayed here in February 2013. Wonderful place. Quaint cottages. Fantastic service. Location is good (the sea is a couple of minutes walk away) but there's no view of the sea from the resort. The same folks run another resort call Emerald Gecko very close by - some of the cottages there are right on the beach.

The resort's restaurant (called Red Snapper) was a bit of a disappointment though. For the prices they charge, the food was nothing special.

We found the Vijay Nagar beach to be terrific, better in some ways than the more popular Radha Nagar beach. It was less crowded, and the people on the beach were mostly residents of the resorts that dot the beach (unlike the Radha Nagar beach which has a lot of casual travelers and boisterous crowds).

We stayed there two nights in the older huts - to the right of the lobby. Definitely try to book the newer huts. The older ones had old mosquito blood stains all over the wall, AC outdated and loud. We had a look at the newer cabins and they are worth the 500 rup extra per night.
The restaurant is excellent, staff very friendly. The beach however is about 200 meter to walk through some not-so-nice looking back path. The beach is beautiful and swimming is possible in high tide only.
They are located a bit from other restaurants so a scooter is really wanted.

This is from year old trip.
It's a lovely place with delicious food. There are good options for veg and non veg.
Coming to rooms those are comfy and lazy. If you are coming in family take cottage.
About value money ting, it's not a budget restaurant, a money saving tip is stay at symphony resort it is just besides wild orchid, and walk own to this place to have food. There is scooba club next to wild orchid, it offers good food too. So try whatever you like.
It is on vijay nagar beach and it is clean beach, lots of foreigners stroll on this beach. So if you are not Indian you can find company here.

I rate this resort with full 5 points. This is realy the best resort at the island. They have the most comfortable rooms and the best restaurant. We know that for sure because after our prebooked rooms expired we decided to extend our stay and had to visit most of the other resorts to find some rooms. We saw many many rooms far from the quality of Wild Orhid.
I am delited by the personal attitude to any customer and so friendly approach to any problem or request. Starting from the owner and the managers and going to the staff - all of them are so nice, helpful at any time and ready to assist.
As about the kitchen and the food quality.....it is amazing! The Chef is a real treasure...so many ways to prepare the food an all of these fantastic!
My personal congratulations to all of them and a big THANK YOU GUYS!

We were on our Honeymoon when we visited this place..we stayed here for 2 nights ..When we entered the Resort, it was like " Oh...what a lovely place " we were so happy to see the beautiful wooden Theme Bungalows of the Resort and the silent and Calm Environment which we hardly get here in Mumbai..the Rooms are good with a clean bed , white towels , air conditioning and a mosquito net . the Food in Restaurant was very delicious especially for Non Vegetarians ( Sea food ) and the Resort staff ,especially Benny Lynda was so friendly and Nice to us..the Private beach which is just 2 minutes away from the resort was so beautiful but unfortunately we didn’t had enough time to hang on. The only thing about the way to beach should be renovated as its quite confusing and has garbage items lying on the path which spoils the glance of the beach.
You can hire by cycle and activa's for Riding on the streets by your own. we enjoyed the Live performance and a candle light Dinner which turned to be the very Romantic atmosphere where we had a great and memorable time there.
It has just been a few days and I’m missing this place..we will surely recommend this place to family and friends and of course visit here in future again..
