Barefoot at Havelock
Ranked #1 of 12 Hotels in Havelock Island
Certificate of Excellence

Never before have I experienced such warmth, hospitality and attentiveness whilst on holiday. And the beach is quite simply the best I've ever seen. The only downside for me (which may be a positive for others) was the total absence of internet connectivity. However, this is beyond the control of Barefoot at Havelock - the infrastructure isn't present for them to connect to.

We selected this hotel going by what other travelers had to say about this property and we were not disappointed. The service is prompt, beginning from correspondence with the reservations, arriving at Port Blair & a vehicle waiting to take us to The Nest to relax & refresh while we waited to be taken to the jetty for Ferry Transfers to Havelock Island. Razia & another gentleman (whose name I forgot to enquire) were very helpful with the local information & procuring some necessary medicines which we had omitted to carry!

We took the Makruzz ferry across the ocean which was very comfortable. On arriving on Havelock Island there was another vehicle waiting to take us to our destination through lush green fields. We had been traveling since early morning and the beautiful country side was a sight for our sore eyes , the driver pointed out places of interest along the way.

Finally we reached Barefoot and the sight of thatched cottages nestled amongst tall trees and more greenery took our breath away & made our spirits rise. We forgot our tiredness! John,Julie & Neil greeted us at the reception with warm smiles.

The cottages are very comfortable,no TV,no Internet is a wonderful way to connect with loved ones but after an early sunset one is bound to the rooms and reading so I felt the lighting could have been a little brighter specially for book worms who like to laze in bed with a novel ! The mosquito netting cuts down the light! But apart from that everything was perfect.

Ever smiling, quick on his legs.....Kshitish at the restaurant is an asset, he can practically read your mind and understand your needs, suggesting items from the menu. The Caramel Custard there .. IS TO DIE FOR!!!!

We pampered ourselves at the Spa with soft spoken Silu & Nisha attending to us.

Sunset on Radhanagar Beach OR Beach 7 as it is called, is mind blowing, which is but 4 to 5 minutes walk from the reception. The greenery, the white sands, the sounds of the waves, the blue waters, the friendly dogs jumping playfully around you on the beach, a nice hot meal with smiling people serving you,a warm cottage & soft bed to go back to after dark, waking up to the chirping of birds with clean air around you.... smiling John greeting & assisting you with every small query... wish... made for a fantastic & memorable holiday for us and we would love to be back there again soon. Thank you John, Julie, Neil, Kshitish,Silu,Nisha and all the others behind the scene who made this happen.

Barefoot was a discovery.. what stands out besides the great property and the pristine surrounding is the fab customer service bent...I landed at barefoot after reading a chance review on the internet before leaving Mumbai... the hectic travel had me down with fever and a migraine...to worsen matters I was travelling with my 2 year old and my mom. Kanchan, and Shekhar, not only helped me out with my child but also ensured that I was able to rest completely before my onward journey to Port Blair. To my astonishment they did so much for a traveler who was not staying with them but was only there for lunch.
I truly congratulate the management for the excellent team in place.

warm regards,
Nandini Joseph George

Barefoot @ Havelock is really beyond what we had in mind. We stayed around 10 days i.e. 3 days in port blair and 7 days in Havelock.
To start of with, we were already informed about no mobile connection, no internet and no tv in Barefoot @ Havelock, Radhanagar Beach, Havelock Island, if some one is expecting these things i would kindly suggest not to go this place and say bad things about it, coz there are more people love to have that kind of holiday.

To say about the people in the resort, they are most extra-ordinary peoples we have come across. they just not stayed friendly but became our friends more to that became our family. I would like to insist a incident where neelam storm was showing its effect in mainland, Since we are honeymoon couples our relatives literally pestered our reception guyz (John & Julie), who managed all of my relatives made them calm down, assured our safety and came in person to inform us about the call we have to return back. Such a nice ppl are hard to find kind. As it goes he did told us about the bad relation between mangalsutra strain and towel, after our request he changed the white towels to blue towels (he he he Thanks John :-) ). The Ever smiling Julie is always ready to help you and waits to help you only thing is we have to ask because it is very hard to read our mind. Finally to end with our friends John and Julie are best of the best.

Rajesh-Mystery Guy that is what we (me & my wife)called him coz, we never had proper timing to meet him. But we did had a chance to meet him, he became our friend too. He did gave surprises while we dine in the restaurant for our honeymoon. And the managerial skills i saw in him like coordinating, organizing, is more than anyone could expect from a man. Thank you Rajesh for your hospitality.

The Room Service and Maintenance was amazing, they were kind enough to see that not intruding our privacy and done well. Every amenities in the cottage were re-stocked often.

The Restaurant was really nice place to sit and relax and eat. Price may seem to be high but it is not, it was moderately cheap compared to the quality of food they are giving (Guyz thanks for the good food). And the waiters, chef are real nice guys. I would like to give thanks to Sheeb and Kanchan, who gave us suggestions, explained the menus and served us very patiently. They always had a smile which made us more easy to ask out what we need exactly.A lot of reviews mentioned about the staff not knowing proper english but i did get surprised almost all (even locals) speaking really good english.

The beach at 200m from resort took our speech away and indeed struck in awe. Such was the waters and sand which we wont forget till our life. And it was nice they gave us coir mat and beach towel which was handy. The tourists who come to enjoy the beach are throwing garbages wherever they like, i would suggest kindly not to pollute the environment.

The stay in port blair was very well taken care of with no delay in sending cars picking us up. The co-ordination was extra-ordinary and Barefoot rocks in that.

On the whole it is a best getaway place to go there and being arranged by Barefoot Holiday is the wisest thing we have done and persons like John, Julie, Rajesh, Abhinav, Rohit, Karthik, Sean, David, Gaurav are surely be thanked who strive to keep it that way.

Finally Havelock Island is a great place to stay and Barefoot is best place to stay.

Room Tip: For Mobile Connectivity do bring a BSNL Sim for yourself.

The destination and experience of Jungle feel was worth. We travelled as couple, we planned ahead few months for this trip travel arrangements to reservations.

Our anticipation was high. It was heaven when we reached Havelock.

We stayed in November second week. We reached the resort, there were team of staff awaiting our arrival. We were received by reception team and a tall manager. The greetings were nice, “welcome to Havelock, you are experiencing barefoot” – with smile, cautiously expecting us to remove our footwear and walk barefoot before entering reception.

We stayed in Cottage. So beautiful, that you forget where you are. My hubby was desperate for internet and mobile network. Nothing works there, no connectivity, no TV. This break from our routine work was heaven, the following morning we had good breakfast, to our surprise we had hot Dosa’s and variety of chutney, we also enjoyed the continental breakfast, freshly made to order.

You must take walk on the beach nearby, – it’s a paradise, clean and white sand, transparent waters, my god, it was so romantic and beautiful.

The staff were friendly and casual, we thanked the kitchen team during departure for making orders as per our taste preference. Housekeeping was good, the rooms were clean, for me most important was the toilet, it is well maintained. Very rustic look.

We tried pasta, specialty of the day, large crab, I was very scared to see such a big live crab presented to us before cooking, but we enjoyed the food. Also, we went out for lunch at sea shells, wild orchid. You must visit these resorts, nice places in Havelock.

Evening time you have to be early to wind up by 5 pm as it is total dark, and by 6 pm you will enjoy the lounge bar with live music. However, it was very loud karaoke music, the lady had deep voice. She was good. Bar guys were friendly. The manager was sharing is experience in snorkeling and scuba dive, arousing our curiosity. We did experience snorkeling and scuba dive , it was wonderful underwater experience.

The check out was smooth. If you look forward for vacation at a place of peace, beauty, beach, and no frills, barefoot at Havelock is good, nice team, nice concept.

Barefoot at havelock is a beautiful resort. It is a complete world. it has everything a heavenly beach, great food, awesome rooms, nature walks, bird watching, scuba diving... The beach is the only one on the side of the Havelock island, so could find yourself alone at the beach. since it is absolutely safe you could spend a great romantic day at the beach, They organize adventure activities like jungle walks, snorkeling and scuba diving; so you do not have to worry about anything. The restaurant is also built with a taste, you can sit, eat, read a book and listen to birds the whole day!

Room Tip: All rooms are nice, with a lot of space and greenery between the cottages

Me and my family (6 adults and a kid) stayed at the Barefoot at Havelock, Radhanagar Beach, Havelock island on the nights of 30 and 31 October 2012. The location is amazing and the beach is out of this world. It is definitely top of the best beaches I have visited. It felt pure!

The service offered was prompt. Any feasible request would be fulfilled with a smile. For those planning a visit to this place, be prepared that there is NO TV, internet and most of the mobiles/iPads don't work. We managed to get signal on a BSNL mobile. However, the natural sounds (birds chirping, waves crashing etc.) are so pleasurable that I did not miss the artificial sounds at all!

Those who are afraid of bugs, please take extra care. The resort is in a jungle. We saw some spiders and many healthy mosquitoes. :) Of course, at sharp 1830 hrs, the hotel staff would come and arrange the mosquito net on the bed so that sleeping was also enjoyable!

The feeling at the end of the visit was that we had stayed less!

For all who are planning to visit, bon voyage and enjoy!

Regards
Prashant Kelkar
