“One Fabulous Place”
Reviewed August 20, 2013

Not as luxury as its sister Resort- the Jungle Resort, this small resort is still one fabulous place to stay. I stayed at cottage tent - one well built, clean, well maintained, enough (quite romantically) lit place. Bathroom/toilet were clean. Staff were very helpful, and more like friends.
DelMar restaurant is one other place to hang out with friends. Stayed there for nights and while leaving felt like leaving friends and not just the staff guys.
Had awesome time doing my Scuba course. These people certainly the Best in PADI Scuba diving in country.

Hi, it was a wonderful experience learning scuba diving at barefoot scuba resort. Resort is good, clean & has basic amenities. This place is perfect for the scuba divers or for the people want to learn the diving. There diving club is to the mark & meet with guidelines of PADI. Food is very basic but clean. Rooms have good location on the beach. Apart from diving, place is perfect for resting & reading some goods book lazing around on the hammock.

Room Tip: All duplex cottages are beach facing & much quieter than other

We stayed in Barefoot Scuba resort for our honeymoon.

Resort facilities are very basic. No swimming pool but with resort on the beach, we didn't see a need for it. No beach beds. Complimentary breakfast is limited. There were a lot of mosquitoes in Jan. As it is mainly for Scuba divers, they is a lot of sound early in the morning (~5am) when the divers start their preparations.

But we absolutely loved this place. This resort is on the beach. We get to sleep hearing the sound of waves. We used sit in balcony for hours listening to that sound. Also, the best part is this beach is not at all crowded. You can peacefully sleep on the beach...

We hired bike from Market and roamed around Havelock for five days. Resort manager provided us with a map and helped us plan the trip. He also suggested us places to trek and explore.

We are planning to go back to Havelock again in 6 months and we are going to stay in Barefoot Scuba again :)

Room Tip: Go for a duplex cottage. It is worth the extra money.

I visited Barefoot Scuba resort in 2010. My husband and I stayed in a sea-facing cottage, which was too big for the two of us and the view of the sea was ok. In hindsight, it would have been smarted to stay in their smaller rooms and hang out on the beach. We would be so exhausted after our scuba and snorkelling trips we really used the room to dump our bags and crash.

The scuba instructors were friendly, helpful and professional. I would probably recommend this resort to travelers who are looking for some serious water adventure in the Andamans. Breakfast was the best meal of the day (free as well).

I would also like to share an unpleasant experience. I was extremely irritated with the attitude of the manager of the resort. Bald white guy whose name I cannot remember. He spoke about India in such a derogatory and mocking way I was shocked. For a foreigner who has barely been in India for a few years, that too in Havelock Island which is a hardly a representation of India, he had no right to yap so much about the India education and employment system, especially when I was least interested in his highly subjective opinions. Quite frankly he ruined the fag end of my vacation and messed up the way he settled my bill. Perhaps if he paid more attention to scuba diving and managing the resort rather than indulging in controversial conversations, he might attract more customers. I would certainly not want to visit Barefoot is racist scumbags like him are still around.

Dear Guest,
Many thanks for your feedback.
The Manager whom you mentioned about, left our organisation in in August 2011. If you visit us again, you will find many changes since your last stay with us in 2010. We hope you will have a better experience during your next visit.

We stayed at Barefoot scuba for 2 nights and went for the snorkeling trip to South Button island and Tamarind Beach. Its a one in a lifetime experience for us. The resort people are cordial, cleanliness is taken care and the beach on the back side of the resort is too good for swimming in high tide. All in all, it was a awesome experience at Havelock island...

Great Resort. Great people. Need an additional fan in the room as it becomes very hot. Charges are a little on the high side but it is one of the resorts which has a generator so even when the power fails the fans stay on.
