The Winery at Spring Hill
Ranked #7 of 15 things to do in Geneva
Attraction details

We arrived to spring hill on a Sunday afternoon. The winery was far from crowded, perhaps half full at best. Despite this the server was slow to greet us. It was about 15 minutes before we even received water (which we had to request). It took 43 minutes to get our complete order. First came our entree's (small portions at a high price), twenty minutes later we received a mediocre bottle of cherry wine, finally after we had finished everything else, our appetizer arrived. Our bill was reasonable, Our server took the wine off of the check, on account of poor service, or so we thought. Until we received a PHONE CALL AT HOME, from Spring Hill, demanding we pay for the wine after all. They took our number from their mailing list and used it, with our credit card receipt, to track us down. Perhaps if they would have put that much effort into giving us a decent meal, I wouldn't be so angry. I've lived on NE Ohio my whole life, and this winery is the worst in the area, hands down.

We went to this winery as we had never been there before and we wanted to hear the band that was playing besides trying the wine. We checked before we sat down on the patio to see if there was service there and a blonde female employee said there was service. There were only 3 other tables with guests when we arrived. After waiting for 45 min & watching the server (the blonde) devote her attention to all the other tables, my husband went in & went to the wine bar so we at least we had drinks. Another server finally came out but the 2 servers could not handle the tables, maybe 10 by now. After another 15 min., I went in & the only person around was the bartender. He volunteered to take our order for food & personally bring the food to us which he did. An hour & a half went by before anyone asked us if we needed anything. We are grateful to the bartender for his service, but we will go to the other local wineries where the service is so much better.

Went with a group to celebrate an anniversary and were pleased with the setting but the food was surprisingly mediocre. They had a never of pizza selections so I opted for one thinking at a vineyard that they might have a tasty brick oven treat but arrived as basically a pita bread toasted with toppings and was the size of a paper napkin. Really, in this day at a vineyard you get away with this! Burgers came with chips and the artichoke dip came in a little foil container as if it had no presentation to add to the pita bread that accpaniwd it. All in an inexpensive and mediocre food experience that has every chance to pverwhe bawd upon the setting and atmosphere which is solid.

We enjoyed the atmosphere of the restaurant and really enjoyed their soups of the day. I might skip the entrees next time and just opt for the soup and some wine. It was too cold to sit outside, but that looked to be where all the action takes place in the summer. Would definitely return for the soup and outdoor dining area.

Spring Hill is a great location to visit on a nice evening. They have bands on the outside patio and plenty of picnic tables to sit at. When it is busy there can be a wait but it is a fun place to go. We go with the expectation of it being marginal food. Order what they are best at and you won't be disappointed.
