“basket trip”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 30, 2011

Was a little disappointed. I thought the place was several buildings of shops. It may have been exciting for a basket collector. Didn't get to Dresden because it started to rain and we needed to head home.

“If you are a "Basket Case" for Baskets.......”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 20, 2011

If you like Longaberger baskets and pottery, then the Longaberger Homestead is for you! Longaberger is actually located in Frazeysburg, OH, and in Dresden, OH. The Homestead has places to eat anything from snacks to a full-course dinner. Very relaxed atmosphere, folks are very friendly and love to talk. You can choose the option of weaving your very own basket at the Homestead "Make-a-Basket" area, and then have fun selecting all the accessories for the basket you wove. You may even be fortunate enough to have a Longaberger family member be visiting and sign your basket for you! You can also do a short walking mezzanine tour of the factory. The town of Dresden which is about 6 miles from the Homestead has quaint shops and a 50's style restaurant called "Popeyes" which was Dave Longaberger's nickname. Both locations are a shopper's delight, but the only caveat is that all the Longaberger purchases are final sale, so be sure of your purchase before you buy. Check out the website for times and directions.

“Large retail store with separate craft barn and pleasant restaurant”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 15, 2011

This location features a large, two-story retail store with some discounted selections, a craft barn with food court, and a pleasant restaurant with clean bathrooms. Locally-made baskets can run to over $100. Large selection of logo clothing and accessories. Some ceramic bathroom accessories were made in China. There is a 25-30 foot tall basket here but the 7-story basket (corporate office) is some 16 miles to the west. Beautiful, well-kept grounds but beware, access is only through central courtyard, exit out the side door of the reception center and you get "trapped" outside the fence. We were scouting for locations to visit with our church senior citizens group. Though the organized "bus tour" may be different from the "walk in" experience, we decided against this location as a destination attraction. This would be a pleasant two-hour stop to browse and enjoy a very good lunch with specialty dessert if you were passing by.

“Good food, interesting things, and relaxing environment”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 12, 2004

Caution: Do not expect to find the baskets that are sold by the reps.

1. Factory tour
option available if you want to make a basket and dress it up; takes about an hour and an expert weaver helps you though. I took advantage of this option and enjoy the token of the trip/tour; baskets starts at about $45. even if you do not make the basket the factory is open to walk in and see the weavers and has a huge upstairs balcony that runs the middle of the plant. this balcony includes photos, diplays of baskets, a weaver demonstrating, and a gift shop.

2. Rose tea garden
wonderful tea house. I took mom there for mothers day and she enjoyed the celebration and finger food/pastries.

3. gifts, gifts and more in the main building.
if you enjoy shopping/looking/spending money on nifty things this is the place to go. The major building is a gift shop from top to bottom. You can sample jellies and purchase candy. I purchased 14k gold earings that look like a basket. Lots of things for the home and children. you can even purchase things for the garden.

4. the food court is in the barn and more gifts.

very nice time for everyone. If you end your trip and believe that you forgot something... they give you a card and you can call to order it.
