I was excited about trying this place after reading all of the excellent reviews on tripadvisor. I tried the pizza and thought it was pretty mediocre. I am a fan of thin crust pizza and prefer Marion's or Donatos to Giovanni's. Other reviewers were not kidding about the garlic salad dressing, 2 people in my party sent their salads back due to the overpowering dressing. Service was good.

“Good Local Restaurant”
Reviewed December 11, 2012

We are regular customers of Giovannis Pizzeria e Ristorante Italiano in Fairborn. This restaurant has been in town forever serving traditional italian food . I enjoy local Mom and Pop restaurant much more than the chains. You can either pick up or eat in their nice dining room. No home delivery offered.
One of our favorite items is their original “Blimpie” sandwich. It is a Italian sub baked and comes on their own home made bun. The pizza has a thin crust is very good. They also offer complete pasta dinners that come with outstanding homemade bread and salad with outstanding house (garlic) dressing.
The restaurant is busy at lunch time and for dinner but normally there is no wait unless it is Friday or Saturday evenings. I recommend this restaurant rating it my favorite local restaurant. Prices are very reasonable for all items on the menu.

“Hidden Gem”
Reviewed December 11, 2012

Giovanni's is a reliable staple in Fairborn. I eat there about once a week. The pizza is delicious, especially if you like thin, crispy crusts. The smell of the sauce wafts through the air and you can't help yourself! It is an authentic pizza joint for the whole family.

“Better than Marion's.”
Reviewed December 3, 2012 via mobile

Best pizza around. Traditional Italian food is also on the menu. Consistent all around. I have never had bad food or service. Make reservations on the weekend. The wait can get long. A must try pizza place!

“Best hand-tossed pizza in Ohio.”
Reviewed September 15, 2012

Giovanni's makes the best hand-tossed pizza in the state. The sauce is slightly sweet and tangy, and they do not put so much on as to make the pizza wet and sloppy. They use enough cheese to cover, but not so much as to make the pizza heavy and greasy. The toppings are never burnt, but fully cooked. It reheats well, so get more than you plan to eat in one setting. Simply put, it is my favorite hand-tossed pizza.

The restaurant is small and is often crowded. The waiters are fine, but there's a mixed bag; this is to be expected in a college town, where most of the wait staff are students. I am not able to speak for the other items on the menu. My preference is to call ahead, and take my order out. However, in the comfort of my home, Giovanni's never disappoints.
