“Nice Property With Minimal Problems”
Reviewed March 6, 2010

I stayed at this property for one night in March 2010 while in the area on business. Reservations were made through the Homewood Suites web site for a one bedroom suite with a queen bed. The posted rate was $103.99 per night with a AAA discount.

The hotel is located in an area with considerable shopping and dining options. It is convenient to I-270, but is far enough from the highway that noise is not a concern. The exterior is clean and well maintained. Parking surrounds the building and spaces were available even though the property was heavily sold during my stay.

The lobby area was clean and attractive. The dining area features a fireplace which was a nice touch. Check-in was flawless as all documents were prepared correctly. The staff member offered directions to local eateries and reminded me of the hotel-furnished evening meal.

Hallways and elevators were clean, attractive and well lit. There was no noticeable noise from other rooms.

The suite was smaller than that which I have found at other Homewood properties. Designers addressed this issue by moving to ten foot ceilings to give a feeling of spaciousness. While it helped, there was a definite difference from similar locations.
The room was very clean and tidy. The kitchen area was equipped as typically found at Homewood locations. I was surprised that both the bedroom and living area televisions were not of the flat panel HD variety. This was no problem for a one night stay, but for a longer stay I would expect more.

The bed was comfortable and typical for the chain, but bedding was slightly below standards. The thread count of the sheets seemed to be that which would be found at a lower end property.

The bathroom was very spacious and predominately clean. I was surprised that the bathroom exhaust vent had quite an accumulation of dust and dirt on its surface. This is an attention to detail point that should not have been missed. It had obviously been some time since anyone paid attention to the fan. As is normally found at Homewood, Neutrogena bath products were available.

The morning breakfast was varied but I noted that the hot egg dishes were barely warm. The attendant was polite, helpful and seemed to enjoy her work.

Checkout was easy as the documents were correct. The staff member inquired if directions to my next destination were needed and I was invited back. This was a great example of a customer service focus. At this writing I have yet to see points awarded to my HHonors account for this stay. I have requested addition but am uncertain if this is a local hotel problem or an HHonors problem. I have every confidence that the concern will be addressed to my satisfaction.

This is a nice property with minimal problems. Should the need arise I would not hesitate to stay here again.

I have been staying at the Homewood Suites in Dublin, OH since January 2009 and could not of chosen a better place to call my second home. The amentities, facility and faculity at the hotel have been outstanding and nothing but helpful to me. From my experience here, the faculity seems to strive to know all guest on a first name basis and treat every guess with the same respect and courteous. The room has been absolutely perfect with no problems or complaints. The hotel managment is very professional but also has a friendly and warm attitude. The choices for breakfast are unlimited and there is usually something for everyone, as well as dinner. The rooms are cleaned and the hotel staff does and excellent job in keeping the facility in excellent shape. This is a hotel you can not go wrong with. The Hilton family and Homewood Suites could not have done a better job with the hotel in Dublin. Thanks and keep up the outstanding work.

This is the third time we stayed at Homewood Columbus/Dublin. The first two times (in 2007 and 2008) were great; this year was disappointing. We arrived at 4:30 p.m. (check-in is at 3 p.m.) and were told the room was not ready. We said we would get something to eat and returned at about 6, at which time the desk clerk gave us $4 in "duck bucks" to use in the hotel store to make up for the room's not being ready. Enroute to the room, we noticed a gaping hole in the lobby's ceiling with a bucket underneath, and the carpet in the lobby as well as the carpet in the hallway on our floor looked as if it hadn't been vacuumed in a month--grass and crumbs everywhere. There appeared to be crumbs, etc., outside our door. Once inside, it appeared that housekeeping had done a hurry-up job; there was a dried spill on the kitchen counter and half-cleaned spots on the stove and the floor was sticky; dust and hair behind the bathroom doors; splattered vanity mirror that looked as if someone had taken a swipe to it; hair found in a covered bathroom glass (luckily discovered before it was used); hair in the bathtub; the dead bolt would not close; and the do not disturb sign was missing. We're used to the great Homewood Suites breakfast, too (we've stayed at two others in other cities), but the next morning's was a letdown. The person in charge was very friendly and seemed to be super efficient, but when we arrived (when there was about an hour left for breakfast), there was no hot cereal out (it appeared about 20 minutes later). There were no large plates for the breakfast sandwiches being served that day; guests kept asking for them. When I asked for bananas, she readily produced a bunch that looked as if it should have been discarded three days before--overripe and bruised. The sandwiches were dried out, as if they'd been kept in the oven warming for too long, and the coffee was lukewarm. Previously this hotel was top notch; we were disappointed to see that it's gone downhill.

This was my first stay at Homewood Suites, was in Dublin for last weeks Irish Festival and to visit family. Surprised how nice the room was. Had a King studio suite, with couch, chair and ottoman, desk, full kitchen area -including full size fridge, cooktop, dishwasher, dishes, coffee pot. Bed was so comfy it took everything I had to pull myself out in the morning!
Bathroom was clean, sink outside of shower/toilet room, lots of toiletries provided. Plenty of closet space. Did not have time to go in (indoor) pool, basketball court available. Plenty of parking. In a fantastic location.
Had a little trouble with the air conditioner at first, but the person at front desk (must get a lot of these calls) explained that air doesn't kick on until there is movement in the room. no problems after being in a while.
Breakfast was good, nice selection. Waffle maker, hot and cold cereals, coffee selection, juices, scrambled eggs, omlets, sausage, breads/bagels. Very busy at the time we went to eat, but staff was quick replacing things, and cleaning tables. Would definitely choose Homewood again based on this experience.

Rencently on a trip to Dublin OH for its Irish Festival we stayed at the Homewood Suites. The hotel was super clean, fresh, and wonderfully decorated. Altogether I would highly reccommend this for anyone looking to be comfortable and satisfied. The full kitchen in the room was wonderful and the bathroom equally good. Next time in Columbus I will stay here.

My family (wife and 6,4, 1 year old) stayed two nights in town for a relative's wedding.

We stayed in a queen suite. The room was clean, had a kitchenette with everything needed to stay longer if necessary. Indoor pool was nice; we had it all to ourselves and is little kid friendly (3' 5" depth all around) and a decent hot tub. Location is right by Tuttle Crossing Mall with lots of restaurants. Traffic can be challenging around the mall but manageable.

Best thing about the place is the free breakfast. A variety of hot and cold items including two waffle makers. Great for families.

Only negative is that some parts of the parking lot don't seem to feel all that secure. Our room was at the extreme back of the hotel and we parked our car by the nearest exit (you need your hotel key card for entrance). When the hotel isn't busy, there are not a lot of other cars there plus there are no windows in that area so no one would see a person breaking into a car or God forbid, assault a person.

Overall, a great stay. Friendly service (needed help finding a place and the front desk mapquested a location and printed it up for me)

There are a certain number of amenities a business traveler might require on week-long trips: 1. a sizable, comfortable room, 2. location, location, location, 3. good food nearby, 4. a fast network connection. Well, getting three of four here wasn't too bad.

Checking into this rather sparsely-populated hotel on a Sunday night, I found that my computer could receive any one of about five of the hotel's well-spaced wireless routers. (There is no wired Internet connectivity here, and that would have helped.) But the speed of the Internet connection was ABYSMAL! Incredibly slow, even for a hotel. Slightly faster than a dial-up modem. Unusable.

I called the 800-number for tech support from India. The foreigner on the other end could not properly interpret network throughput. The desk was of no use either. My equipment checked out 100%. (As a network engineer I was able to detect signal problems throughout the hotel and I asked them to do something about it. They denied any issues existed, but oddly, a few days later, things got somewhat better (500 Kbps...).) Yea, a usable Internet!

It appears the whole hotel has a slow line (about one-sixth the speed of my cable modem at home) to share among several hundred guests. This is a poor design in a business park hotel and that isn't all that made it slow, but at peak times there was no way to get a fast connection, even when routing was working properly. This needs to be upgraded and re-engineered.

Otherwise, I enjoyed the Studio Suite. It is what it says it is: a suite without doors between bed and living space. This truly has a full-fledged kitchen with real-size refrigerator, a couple of burners, a hood-type microwave and a dishwasher. The bed area and the living area are not separated by much, but in their design, there is a definition to each space, which is better than Comfort Suites designs I've suffered staying in recently.

I would recommend higher pressure showers and more powerful flushes. Additionally, the halls smelled like spearmint fresheners were being used to mask odors. A good working ventilation system would be more tasteful.

There's a decent hot breakfast, but it was put away early one morning when I was expecting it to be there.

There are restaurants of all sorts two blocks away, but you might not want to walk to them alone at night because there's little lighting in this business park area. In fact, only Hilton Head is darker at night.

If you're taking computer training at 5115 Parkcenter Ave., this is the closest hotel, a short walk across the street. Just be certain to use the adequate Internet connection at the training site, and don't rely on the motel's slow line.

All, in all, okay.

  • Liked — Good location.
  • Disliked — Poor Internet speeds. Toilet ,floors and glassware weren't cleaned daily.
