“Best Buffet In Ohio!!!”
Reviewed July 3, 2012

In my opinion, The Cathedral Buffet is the best buffet in Ohio! For decades, it has always been a very big attraction, and longtime lunch/dinner favorite for busloads of area Church Groups.

The Buffet is owned by the dynamic Television Minister, Rev. Ernest Angley, who raves about it having the best fried chicken and ice cream in the vicinity.

Additionally, they have the best (seasonal) ham, BBQ Ribs (cooked outside), cakes, cookies, and cupcakes around.

They also have a large soup and salad bar, coffee (with a original or french vanilla cream machine), a variety of other hot and cold beverages, wheat and white rolls, a variety of tasty vegetables, baked and fried fish, baked chicken, stuffed green peppers, etc.

Be sure to check out the Gift Shop, and the beautiful "Life of Christ" Display on the premises. And if you so desire, you can take a short walk next door and attend a church service in the beautiful, historic Cathedral Church.

After night church services, the buffet opens for two hours--for a late night dinner (usually around midnight). The price is only $6.00, but the menu doesn't include the entire regular buffet items.

“Cathedral Buffet is THE PLACE to go, if you like cafeteria food!”
Reviewed May 9, 2012

Every couple of years, when we happen to be in the Akron area, we decide to eat at The Cathedral Buffet, hoping that things have changed since we were there last. Much to our dismay, it's always the same 'ol cafeteria-style canned everything type of food that is served there. When will we ever learn!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

“What a disappointment of the food & environment! Poor excuse for buffet dining!!”
Reviewed September 24, 2011

We were visiting for a family reunion from out of state & were very disappointed w/the selection of food. All the food that could have possibly come from a can or a box, probably was. The flavor was quite bland all around. The salad bar didn't have a very large selection of toppings/choices...the lettuce was obviously from a bag as well. The workers all seemed like they were bored to death and would rather be at home weeding their gardens. The minute we walked in the door, there were Christian pamphlets available in the center of the room but all for $1 each (which would normally be free at other places)...there was also a gift shop w/stuff for purchase as well. The evangelist that owns the places definitely tries to make money on everything possible. The environment inside the restaurant was quite quiet/dead...almost like people were afraid to make any noise/laugh/etc. It honestly seemed like a dinner at a funeral home...all that would have been missing was a casket w/a body in it. We weren't sure where all of the food was at, just the salad bar/some desserts. Had to ask someone where the rest of the food was...in another room off to the side. There was a stage w/fake white stuffing/batting from a craft store hanging from the ceiling. We weren't sure if we were going to be preached to while we ate or not (we didn't...the environment was very quiet). Go to other restaurants in the area....do not waste your time!!! You will not be happy w/the overall experience! For the quality of food, the prices were way too high! For a family of 4, we spent almost $40 including our kids when we could have spent less at a local chain restaurant. If you care about the quantity of food instead of quality, I'm sure you won't mind as much but the taste just isn't there! If the TV evangelist would have spent the money on feeding the hungry at homeless shelters instead of adding extra "sparkly stuff/tacky decorations", he could have done a lot more good.

“Bargain-priced, great food!”
Reviewed September 7, 2009

We love going to the Cathedral Buffet. Though it is affiliated with Ernest Angley's Grace Cathedral Church, you won't be bombarded by any religion here. Just good food at a good price. The majority of the food is homemade - some exceptions are mashed potatoes (boxed), vegetables (many times canned or frozen) and other basics like fries, etc. But many of the dishes are homemade, like their potatoes au gratin, bread pudding, broasted chicken (fantastic) and other main entrees as well. There is a brunch on weekends featuring breakfast and lunch items. You can feed an army here for very little money, and the price includes a beverage. (Warning to parents with small children - milk is not available, but there is water.) Though the clientele is decidedly of an older persuasion, don't let that stop you - the food is great and the prices are right.
