Roscoe Hillside Cabins
Reviewed July 20, 2010

We stayed in "Upper Buffalo" while attending the Coshocton Dulcimer Festival and found it to be a very comfortable cabin. While 3 of the cabins are up many stairs on the "hillside", this one has only a couple of steps to the deck and is very accessible. I would certainly stay there again if we're able to return for another visit. Very convenient to Roscoe Village.

We recently stayed at Roscoe Hillsise Cabins in Coshcton, Ohio. What a wonderful family get away. There were loads of local ventures. We went to the Ballon Festival, Corvette show and went to Amish Country. Truely, there was not enough time given to this trip. After a FULL day of fun we headed back to the relaxation of the quaint cabins. Rocking chairs on the porches and the jacuzzi tubs. We had our choice of eating in town or cooking at the cabin. I would love to go back at anytime. Thank you so very much.

We as a family have been back to the cabins every Oct for the last 2 years and have a standing reservation for every oct until we can no longer travel, which I assume will be a very long time.We go and stay in three of the cabins , In the large cabin , it is usually 3 couples with their children and smaller famlies in the other two cabins. We all love this place for our olny family reunion in October. The table in the large cabin opens and extends to fit most of us to have our big breakfast and dinners together. The insides are very clean and so comfortable, and the outside is beautiful, sitting on the fron porch and visiting, while the smaller kids play with their soccer ball out front. We are all ages from near 80 down to 8 year olds with teens also. it is a beautiful place and if we never leave there at all over the weekend, we love staying put!Things for everyone to do close by if they choose to. The family all looks forward to Oct every year just to go there!

My daughter and I just returned from another lovely weekend at Roscoe's Hillside Cabins. This was maybe our 5th visit in just a few years, and that is because these cabins have become our home away from home. We travel to Canton often, and instead of staying with family - I/we stay here. We have traveled to this area for many family events now in the last couple of years and have stayed over holidays including Easter, Thanksgiving, 4th of July and Christmas - the scenery directly around the cabins changes completely with each season. When we arrive, we feel so at home - we load in our groceries, movies and books - and we just never want to leave. We find the cabins are just the right size and the king size bed and the futon in the loft are both very comfortable. There are two TV's, making the loft my teenage daughter's hideaway. The bathroom is huge, and the jacuzzi tub is awesome. The cabin is fully furnished with everything you could need plus has antiques and other decor - this just gives things that much more of a homey cabin feel. The long front porch with the grill is incredible and is just like a huge spare room (in warmer weather). The rockers on the porch are comforatable and each porch has a river view most of the year. We visit northern Ohio often so are are thankful to have found these cabins - the best part is being able to bring our small dog Valentine with us. We "all" look forward to seeing the little resident dogs that live there - they sometimes come up to our door to visit us and are so cute. I sometimes stay part of my time there by myself - I do take care when going out at night alone to quickly walk the dog - I don't go far - but I do feel safe there overnight. The squirrel and the deer are abundant and our favorite time of year is in the summer because of all of the wildflowers, butterflies and birds. A caretaker lives just at the top of the hill and he and his puppies are always available if you need them. He is so kind and even remembers us, which makes it seem more safe. Another caretaker is also very generous, he even stops by to make sure you have everything you need - and has gone out of his way to make our stay very special. There are also tons of things to do in the area. historic Coshocton is quite interesting plus it has the benefit of being a 30-40 minute drive to/from Amish country (Berlin area). Roscoe Village is really within walking distance from the cabins and is filled with really interesting shops and restaurants - all with updated and upscale merchandise, our favorite place to dine is the Lock 27. For us, Roscoe's Hillside Cabins win out over any hotel it helps that they are so affordable. Our next visit will hopefully be a long weekend in the summer or spring. Thank you to C, M, and D!

Living in the Coshocton area, one is surrounded by beautiful hills and rivers. Enhancing the scenery is the Roscoe Hillside Cabins. The cabins are so clean, people so friendly and helpful that you try to think of reasons to spend time there. I like it for a "getaway" and always have friends stay there when they are visiting the area. What a great thing to enjoy the majestic view from the porch in the rocking chair.

I am so fortunate to have stayed at the Roscoe Hillside Cabins. I travel quite extensively; however, of all the resorts / accommodations (including Carmel-by-the-Sea, CA), this is the place I keep going back to visit time and time again.

The cabins are exquisitely themed and always immaculately kept. Actually, it’s the only place I can sleep (the beds are wonderful) away from home with the bonus of feeling very, very safe. It says a lot about a place that given a choice between a resort and spa in California and Coshocton, Ohio, you choose the latter because of this wonderful lifestyle cabin-style living.

What’s even more important is their care given during my stay… The staff is always courteous, conscientious and every minuscule detail is attended to for assurance of the “perfect” (and pampered) travel experience.

While the cabins at Roscoe Village appear rustic - they are really cozy and well decorated. Full heat and AC. A loft with low ceiling and TV will be a perfect hideout for family children. Great kitchen. A triangular 2-person jacuzzi. But there were a few discomforts. The bed sagged enough that we woke with aching backs. The showerhead fell apart and was not replaced during our long stay, even though it was reported the first day. The bathroom sink drained very slowly due to the stopper being set too low. There were essentially no lamps by the bed (one that was no more than a night light) which made morning or evening reading impossible. The main rooms were quite dark, the kitchen and bath were bright. Three cabins are way up a long set of stairs (good for you) and the first step on the one we stayed at needs a stepping stone because it's far too high, especially when carrying things in from the car. No inside door bolts on doors meant the handyman walked in claiming he was bringing us an extra blanket (unrequested) while we were in the shower across from the front door with a clear curtain, so we did not feel secure the rest of the stay and felt the need to put chairs under the door knobs at night, especially after we found a ground-level window that appeared locked was not, so we kept valuables in the car when we went out for the day, dispite the area feeling pretty safe. The cabins were a good 1/2 hour from Amish country, but that meant getting lovely rides through the country to get there. The living room TV was attached at the top corner of the ceiling, making viewing difficult. They were very generous about our bringing our small dog, but we could not walk her in the area due to a group of terrier dogs who lived there that nipped at her heels when we tried to take her out, so we had to be to a nearby park. One cabin is 1/2 laundry room, so be careful about taking that one - they ask that no laundry be done after 5 p.m. for quiet. We were a bit disappointed to find the cabins were so near a 4-lane highway and the traffic noise was loud, but you could not hear it inside with the windows closed. I guess you'd say we had mixed reviews. The cabin was well appointed, but needs a little more. The heavily wooded setting was great and they went all out to put bales of hay, pumpkins and pots of mums for the season. The place was spotless and easy to keep clean.
