I booked this room off Hotels.com and thinking that Wyndham had nice locations. Imediatley when we pulled into the parking lot I got a bad feeling. This was in a really unattractive part of town. The check in was quick and easy, once we got to our room it seemed to be nice. It was my husband and I with our 3 children and a 1 yr old grand child. Both my husband and I are in the pest control industry and I work for one of the natioln's largets company's so I am very prone to check for bed bugs and have fear since I deal with these type of calls all day.
We checked the 1st room and as soon as we pulled the mattress back we spotted one without having to do a full inspection. We called the front desk and brought up a speciman to the counter for proff. They were very quick to get us into another room, before we uload all the children and the baby we go in and check the 2nd room. At this point it was 11pm and we were very tired and the baby was upset and ready for bed. It seemed to be clear until we got into the bed and one came running across the pillow, we pulled the mattress back and found that this room had been treated previously and there was still a infestation!
At this point I refused to stay in this location and packed up my children and went to the front desk and demanded that they relocate us. We were told that they could only move us to another room on the same property!! Not gonna happen 2 rooms 2 cases of bed bugs!! 1 am with a toddler that is sleepy and 3 other children that have been moved 2 times!!
We have tried to contact the general manager for several days and he will not return our phone calls!! NOT good customer service and no respect for what a guest has been through!!

We have a contract with Terminix and they have checked our property thoroughly for issues including bed bugs and havent found anything. Our mattresses are very very new and well kept.

The 2 rooms you stayed in were immediately checked by Terminix and were without issue.

Maybe its possible that you brought your bugs into the room. Given you say you work for a pest control company, you are a likely candidate. Beg bugs arent created in rooms, they are brought in by guests via luggage usually.

My apologizes for your experience but we have had the whole property checked professionally after your visit and failed to find any such issue.

The Hawthorn Suites by Wyndham Airport Columbus East is a terrific property in which to spend the night or a couple of nights. The hotel is surrounded by a less than desirable area, but feels particularly isolated from the deterioration that has affected the rest of the neighborhood.

The rooms are located in numerous seperate units, which seem to house 6-8 units per building (a la timeshares). The grounds are well kept and the trees and fences lining the property really make this property have a resort feel.

While providing terrific ammenities during the summer months, the ammenities become much more limited during the long Ohio winters. There is an outdoor pool and basketball court available for guest use.

The hotel lobby is very small, but pleasant. While located just off of I-70, there is no freeway noise carrying onto the property. Even with its location, the hotel can be slightly tricky to find as it is somewhat hidden away from busy Hamilton Rd. Eateries are plentiful, but are not located within walking distance.

If visiting Columbus and staying on the East Side, this property provides a very spacious living area and a complimentary breakfast buffet and will fit your needs. Provided that you confine yourself and your family to the property, you will ensure yourself a very pleasant experience.

Our stay this past weekend was very good. The rooms were the nicest i have ever stayed in and i am a germ freak. Applicances were spotless; as well as the carpets and bathroom. They were amazingly huge, you will not feel cramped. The pool area was immaculate. The flower beds are overrun with weeds and we had to park really farm from our room Saturday. There is a 10 foot privacy fence between Hawthorn and the abondoned hotel next door; not really Hathorn's fault regarding this situation. You can't see it unless you go to a top floor room and stand on your tip-toes!!! Security cameras are everywhere. Overall a good stay.

Run-down property with spotty service. We stayed here twice in a week and were disappointed each time. Run away.

The property was very run-down. For example, the rooms were very decrepit: several walls
warn away, mold, a stuck closet door, a ceiling falling down, a bathroom fan
that sounded like a helicopter landing, a crooked door knob
with wood screws holding it together, a missing sheet, broken sliding door,
malfunctioning lamp, and a floating pool light with the high voltage
cord still connected to the wall underwater.

The first time we experienced a half hour check-in do to slow, incompetent help. The
second time was better, but there was an air of uncaring.

As for the area, it's a little disturbing. On one side is a heavily vandalized
hotel that looks like it's from a movie set. On the other side, semi trucks
are constantly idling and rumbling. In the parking lot of this hotel I spotted
two cars that have been there at least a week or more. One had a flat, the other
had rusty brake discs from disuse.

I believe this was a once-nice hotel that's rotted away. It would seem that
the owners are trying to wrestle every dollar from the unaware customer. Maybe they're
going to retire overseas once the city shuts down the place?

Run away.

do not listen to any other reviews this place sucks!!!!!! its falling apart, dirt, the service here is even worse they told my uncle when his shower was broken to shower in another room, the hotel rooms our dirty and under supplied. as i said before DO NOT STAY HERE!!!!!
