We ordered a few sampler platters as an appetizer to see what they had to offer. Lots of good food and a few things I hadn't eaten before. The barbecued eel was fantastic and may be the best I've eaten. I'd definitely recommend checking it out if you're ever in Columbus.

Miso soup was great, full of flavor. We also ordered a party boat for $50. It was quite good too. The place was rather crowded but the service was very good.

If you are looking for Japanese or Korean cuisine in Columbus, Akai Hana will not disappoint. I bring out of town guests as well as family and friends here frequently. My latest find is the Bimbi bap.
The menu is plentiful and easy to read. The waitstaff is excellent and attentive.

This is the best sushi in town if you don't count Kihachi, which belongs in a different category. I've tried most of the sushi here, eaten here many times over 15 years, and never had a disappointing meal. A surprising pleasure is the "organic salad" with a delicious miso dressing.

You can tell a Japanese restaurant is good when a bunch of native Japanese are eating there. They have an extensive menu (moreso if you read Japanese - the English menu has pictures, but doesn't list all the menu items!) and good prices. There is a sushi bar to order from (often with rather a wait) and various Japanese dishes. I recommend ordering the sweet potato sushi roll. The sweetness of the tempura-fried sweet potato with the saltiness of sushi rice and soy sauce, with the slight crunch of the added sprouts is AWESOME. Warning: the tea is usually undrinkable for a few minutes after they pour it - super hot!
