“Great location and cool hip room!”
Reviewed August 5, 2011

We loved the location of the hotel, between German Village and the Short North. The service was great--lots of helpful info from the nice guy at the front desk--Shane. Everything about the hotel was fantastic--the bed, the large windows, the bath amenities, the overall hip feel...great. The only negative was the breakfast at the restaurant downstairs...it was poor and I would not recommend. Go somewhere else. But he hotel--really nice!

Thank you for submitting a review at tripadvisor.com regarding your recent stay at the Lofts Hotel. I could not agree with you more, our location is second to none in Columbus, just blocks away from the entertaining Arena District and the artsy Short North. I'm glad you appreciated the historic nature of our guest rooms, as they are truly residential in nature. We hope to have you as our guest again soon! Thank you again for your business, Kathyrn Burton, General Manager

Thanks to all at the Lofts for the great service you provided during our stay. Everyone was very helpful, polite, cheerful and professional. Shane led us through the booking process and helped answer our questions before and during our stay, and Chelsea and Tom were great in providing information on what to do and how to get there. Being our first visit to Columbus, the Lofts staff made the city feel small and welcoming with their help. Our room was spacious and the super high ceilings made it feel even bigger. This is not your cookie cutter hotel, which is what drew us to reserve there, and we were super-surprised when it was more than we expected. A breath of fresh air!! Thanks so much.. If we ever get to Columbus again, we'll be at the Lofts.

We stayed here 7-20 and the only thing we were unhappy about was the fact that we were only staying one night because we were just passing through Columbus. My 12 yr old son wants to live here. In fact, it has now probably ruined him for other hotels and set his standard so high, that I'll have a hard time making him as happy on future vacations :).

The staff was very warm and welcoming upon check-in, and the whole hotel has a very contemporary/industrial sort of feel. We were in a 2 bedroom suite on the 2nd floor, and it was enormous. Maybe it was because we had stayed at so many interchangeable hotels prior, but I loved the unique look and the different feel to the room. It didn't feel like we were staying in a hotel, it felt a little bit like we were in someone's apartment. The ceilings were very tall adding to the wide open feel of the room. The beds were one of the most comfortable I have slept on in a hotel and the bed linens were super soft. I also loved the fact that the towels were thirsty and large. I'm a big person and the towel totally wrapped around me with some to spare. It was quite a novelty considering the normal standard which is to feel like you are drying with a hand towel.

Outside the room, the hallways are very cool with brick walls, odd doors, sitting areas, and a connecting walk on the 2nd floor over to the sister property (the Crown Plaza). it was very easy to get to the indoor pool at the attached hotel. We just went through a connecting door on the 2nd floor (not sure about the other floors), walked over to the #4 elevator (the only one that goes to the pool) and used our key card to get to the basement level of the pool. We were the only ones at the pool and after discovering how much our voices echoed, my son and I had sort of a karaoke moment and sang some songs (we called it "swimaraoke").

Self parking was easy and only $12 for overnight which I thought was pretty reasonable. The parking garage sits just behind the hotel and is hardly any kind of walk, so if you think valet parking is too much, then don't feel intimidated by just parking your car yourself. You won't have in and out privileges (not sure if you do with valet or not), but the charge for less than overnight is lower so it is not a big deal. Overall, we thought pretty much everything about the hotel was wonderful and would definitely stay here again if we are ever in Columbus.

This was our second trip to the Lofts. The first trip was back in February when we had a suite. This trip we wanted to experience more of the hotel. For this trip we chose a king room. The room still has the 15 foot ceilings . Bed was very comfortable. We talked with Tom at the front desk about restaurants in the area and he was very helpful. There seems to be some problems on the horizon, first there was a ripple in the carpet in front of the armoir that you could very easily trip over on you're way to the bathroom in the dark. Our drain in the tub was very slow while taking a shower I had to stand in a couple of inches of water. There was trash left over in one of the trash cans. We were on the second floor and there was thumping bass music coming from below that when well into the night. If you like your room pitch dark your not going to get it with the blinds they have . Then at 4 o'clock in the morning I thought heard someone open our room door an wall down the hallway into our room here it was the room above ours scary way to wake up. Valet parking is $21 per night. Our King room aaa rate $124 plus tax. Would I stay again I'm not sure.

I had stayed at this hotel many times before. My flight was cancelled and I had to stay overnight and decided to head to downtown Columbus. The Lofts was the first place I called. The 800 number for reservations told me they were sold out, but I took a shot and called the hotel direct. Shane answered and not only was able to provide me a room for one night, he recognized I was a returning customer and went out of his way to make the flight cancellation a fleeting memory. He greeted me when I checked in with the same friendly attitude and made my extra night in Columbus a pleasure. He was able to think on his feet and made sure I'll come back to the Lofts in Columbus again!

Room Tip: Call the hotel direct.

My husband and I stayed at The Lofts for one night in April. I was attracted to the hotel based on its urban character, excellent reviews, and great AAA rates. We were not disappointed! We stayed in a king suite that was very spacious and included a sitting area. Everything was very clean and the room had the urban/industrial fee that we were hoping for. It was also very convenient to the rest of downtown. We were able to walk to dinner on High St. and a concert on Nationwide Blvd. without any problems. On Sunday morning we ordered room service from Max and Erma's which is on the first floor of the building. The prices were not inflated like most room service and the food was good. I would highly recommend this hotel and will not hesitate to stay there again!
