“Wow - bring your appetite and bathing suit!”
Reviewed June 20, 2013

This is new since I've moved to AL and I am so glad to have seen it while visiting Columbus last week. My son had a blast playing in the water features and jets while the adults of our group were able to see (and talk to) him from the outside seating at the bar/restaurant adjacent to it.

Although there is no pool of water, there were lifeguards on a Thursday afternoon. Luckily nothing occasioned the saving of any lives while were there, but an inconsiderate dog walker strolled through and let their dog pee on the edge of the play area. The lifeguard workers turned off the water and cleaned up the spot, no doubt a valuable service appreciated by all.

There is also a 3-D mural on the sidewalk that we enjoyed "playing with." The ladies room was spacious, clean.

What a great free attraction! Most of the parking meters nearby are in the shade, bonus!

“Great for kids”
Reviewed June 18, 2013

The water pad/ sprinklers are so much fun for the kids. make sure to bring swim suits and towels if you are going here on a warm day as the kids will not be able to resist running through the sprinklers

“Nice Relaxing Spot For All Ages”
Reviewed June 10, 2013

My teen daughter and I visited Scioto Mile this past weekend for the Arts Festival.

Scioto Mile runs along the Scioto River in downtown Columbus on both sides. There are nice concrete walkways on both sides of the river. On the west side of the river between Broad St and Town St the concrete walkway goes right up to the water with no railings etc. If you look to the west you will see the original Central High School Building that was used in the 1984 movie Teachers. The building was closed at the time and is now the current home of COSI (Center of Science and Industry) which is accessed on the opposite side of the building. On the east side of the river in this same section you will find tons of benches and "porch" swings that face the river for a nice view.

Keep walking south on the east side of the river and you will find the Scioto Mile fountain as well as a nice restaurant with views of the riverfront. I have not ate there but I hear they have good food. Also in this area are public modern restrooms which were clean, and a large grassy area with a large stage where they have entertainment from time to time. THe Scioto Mile Fountain has water spurting up from the ground and you and the kids of all ages are welcome to run through it to cool off. If you have little ones you will need to observe the same rules as you would for a public pool concerning swim diapers.

As with all downtown areas parking comes at a cost. There are some meters along the mile, as well as a small lot across from it on the east side that sometimes offers parking. Garage parking is within walking distance and you can always park in the COSI lots accessed from Broad St ($8 a day credit or Debit Card only).

Unfortunately most if not all of the shopping in downtown Columbus has disappeared. So you won't find much shopping (if any at all) around the Mile.

All in all a great place for families, couples, and generally people of all ages. There is plenty of wide open space. You will see rollerblading, bicyclist, lots of people walking their dogs and a variety of other activities happening but yet can find a quiet place to sit and relax, read a book, or have a picnic.

Check out their website for a listing of special events happening throughout the summer.

“Great place for an evening stroll”

Well lit, nicely manicured area along the river. Great place to read a book, eat a picnic, roller blade, or ride a bike. Definitely have a bite to eat or drink at the restaurant, Milestone 229.

“Great Spot to Relax and View the Scenery”
Reviewed June 1, 2013

The Scioto Mile is a nice place to relax by the river. Our family really liked the swings right on the river.
