“Great breakfast spot”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 25, 2014

We had brunch here Easter morning just before noon. We must have beaten the church crowd because we were able to walk right into a table. Excellent menu, good service, super food, and reasonable portions. Definitely a repeater.

“A local, creative twist on comfort food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 21, 2014

We were pleasantly surprised at the lack of a wait for breakfast on Easter Sunday (maybe everyone else was at church....) and were able to sit down right away! We were definitely not disappointed.....andouille sausage gravy and biscuits for me and the artichoke omelette for my husband. Great strong coffee as well. Server was attentive, knowledgeable, and pretty funny too. I wish we lived closer so we could work our way down the menu!

“If you're not a native, this place will surprise you”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 15, 2014

Great little whole-in-the- wall that serves outstanding locavore delights. Out of town friends are always delighted, especially when they stumble on this place on their own while they are visiting fabulous German Village. Chef Caskey has been featured on national televison for his creative twists and familar comfort foods and brunch items. Wish they could add about 50 more tops!

“Cozy and Crazy Good”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 9, 2014

This will probably rise to five stars after further visits, judging from this visit. We have lived six blocks from Skillet for two years. This was our first visit. Sillly us. We went for breakfast this morning. We expected a wait but walked right in (Ok, it WAS 8:05). The waitstaff could not have been nicer or more informative. The decor is utilitarian eclectic with some softer touches. It is small. It feels homey.

My wife had the apple crostada and sighed happily with each bite. Even down to the syrup which added depth of flavor without being thick or too sweet. I did not get a bite. That is how good it was. I had the biscuit and scrambled eggs (more omelet in style, but why quibble?) with duck and andouille sausage gravy. Biscuits were moist and flaky. Eggs layers of fluff. Sausage full of flavor with a bit of spiciness. As my wife does not do spicy, I had it all to myself. I loved ever mouthful.

Portion are on the large size but they are so good you can't stop eating. Even the coffee was great. (Cafe Brioso Guatemalan with a few other qualifiers). If fact my only quibble was the cost of the coffee. $3.50 is a lot, even for such good coffee. Minor point.

We will go back often and I imagine their will be another star added after we do.

This is a great small friendly wonderful place.

“great Brunch”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 6, 2014

We arrived around 11:30AM but "Lip on Pig" already sold out. The place is small and many people are waiting to get in. We waited for about half hour. The food was delicious. The staff were very attentive.
