Description: DeepWood is the balanced experience of living and dining well: sincere hospitality, personal connections, inviting atmosphere, local responsibility and a fresh evolving menu. The restaurant is an invitation into a home and is to be as much about its people and the way its guests are made to feel as the dishes defining the meal

“Our Favorite Restaurant in Columbus!”
Reviewed April 4, 2014

We have been to DeepWood many times over the years and have enjoyed our dining experience every single time. From Dining Originals Week, Restaurant Week, Farm to Table Week, Gallery Hop, and just a Saturday night in March, every meal has been wonderful. Four of us were planning to get together for dinner last Saturday night. DeepWood was the first pick as two of my friends were craving the Scallop Wellington appetizer, which is one of the best dishes in Columbus. We were promptly seated, and the excellent dining experience started. We started with a delicious amuse bouche featuring beef carpaccio. Appetizers were spot on, especially the Scallop Wellington. Dinners included the Boar Chops, Filet Mignon, and two ordered the Black Cod, which we were told was flown in from Alaska that morning. All dishes were amazing! The bread service offers homemade flat bread, white bread, and a date bread, and all of us asked for seconds of at least one offering. Being quite full from dinner, we asked for just a taste of dessert, their homemade Heath Bars. Absolutely Amazing! Every time we have out of town guests, we bring them to DeepWood. Service is always spot on! The wine list is reasonably priced, and we have found some fantastic wines on the menu! However, if a wine flight or a pairing is available, go for that option. We've never gone wrong with the wine pairing, especially during a special tasting menu or restaurant week! Cannot wait for my next visit to DeepWood!

“Great for Gallery Hop”
Reviewed January 7, 2014

DeepWood has some amazing specials during the monthly Gallery Hop in the Short North. Their tasting menu is usually somewhat cutting edge without being off putting.

“Lovely setting, friendly staff, average food.”
Reviewed December 16, 2013

Four of us dined here last week. The setting is warm and comfortable, and our waiter was knowledgable, friendly and accommodating. However, two of us had tepid (if not cold) main courses, which is pretty unforgivable considering the prices they charge. To be fair, the waiter apologised and didn't charge us for one of the meals, but I wasn't looking for a free meal, just a great dining experience.

Oysters were delicious, nice selection of breads, and there is an attractive wine list. The menu selections are unfortunately (like a lot of American restuarants these days) overly complex and pretentious.

They have vegan & gluten-free menus which is very nice and makes ordering much easier. We had a great server but the food took a long time to come out. I think we payed for the atmosphere more than anything- the food wasn't so great. I had something off the vegan menu and it was super salty and not much flavor.
I'd probably go again to give them another chance because it seems like a nice place

“Food good but many service charges”
Reviewed November 10, 2013

Although the food was good we were unhappy and surprised about the various service charges. First a 25 dollar charge to reserve 3 tables for 16 people (on a Monday night when the restaurant was practically empty). Then a 20% gratuity charged to everything including alcohol (which is typically less). We were celebrating a Birthday and they charged us 40 dollars to cut 1 cake for 16 people. Three times more than the cake cost to begin with.
Their prices are high enough without adding on all of the additional charges. Definitely will not return.
