“LOVE this place”
Reviewed November 9, 2012

Columbus recently got a vegas style casino, now if you are into the glitz and glamor.. oh and card games that is for you. Now for those of us that simply like slots THIS is the spot! The area is safe, it is always clean, never a rough crowd and you can typically win a nice chunk of change.

“Clean and nice, but don't eat there.”
Reviewed October 28, 2012

After reading the reviews of people who had won there, we decided to try our luck at Scioto Downs instead of our usual hangout, Hollywood Casino in Lawrenceburg, Indiana. Our first impression of the casino was great. Easy parking, nicely decorated, and friendly security guards that directed us to the players club as soon as we walked in the door.

Lots of slot machines were available, so finding one to play was never a problem. Our problem was finding one of these 'lucky' slot machines that so many others had played.... We lost, but you should never go to any casino without keeping that possibility in mind.

We were just about to leave when we found out that they were running some sort of promo, earning us both a free buffet. They must have felt that we had not been punished enough...The food was pretty nasty for a place like this. I tried a little bit of several items (the point of a buffet, isn't it?), and NONE of it was worth a second helping. The fried chicken was possibly the worst item -- tasting like it had been fried more than once in oil that was nearly rancid. They also managed to ruin broccoli, and even I can make better egg-rolls.

If they decide to punish you by giving you a free buffet, fill up on salad (something they don't have to cook) and dessert (something that they don't make there). Better yet, skip the buffet and save your luck for the slots instead of using it up to keep your meal down.

“Nice addition but nothing but slots and a little confusing”
Reviewed October 26, 2012

Scioto Downs has placed a nice addition onto the racetrack and become a Racino - I stopped by one afternoon. Easy parking, large facility but lacked something. Just a lot of slots and a very older age group (probably because it was mid afternoon). Wasn't anything spectacular but a nice place if you like slots. Noticed the food and beverage prices were pretty reasonable.

“Buffet is terrible”
Reviewed October 17, 2012

The casino itself is nice, beautiful layout and easy to navigate. I broke even on the machines, but the casino floor lacked the appeal of vegas style gaming. It was difficult to find attendants and when I did, employees seemed lost or underqualified. The buffet was horrible. The food is sub-par and way way over priced. It would be a good value for half the price they are charging. Both the Italian and Asian stations had cold overcooked food, the prime rib was bone dry, and the short ribs were some of the thoghest meat ive ever tasted. Not what I expected from a high priced buffet.

“Never lost at scioto slots”
Reviewed October 5, 2012

If you play the dollar machines at scioto and risk max bet, payoffs are very good. Stay away from the Penney machines and only bet the max on progressives. If you don't you are just filling it up for others to win. I'm up over 2000 since they opened. Went to the new Hollywood special preview last Wed and lost. No comps or anything for anyone. Half the machines were broken. The Atms were not working and if they did the incorrect amount of money came out. Play slots at Scioto and tables at Hollywood. Most of all, think of it S a night out. Subtract your loss from what you would have done anyway (movie, dinner, shopping) ans you might find out that your ahead!
