“Great Hotel in Cleveland!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 20, 2011

We really enjoyed our stay at the Wyndham in Cleveland at Playhouse Square. The entire staff was extremely accommodating and really went above and beyond to make sure that we enjoyed our stay. Our room was spacious and clean with very comfortable beds. The breakfast at the hotel restaurant, Encore, was delicious with omelets prepared to order. This hotel is in a great downtown location. The local theaters are just steps away. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Browns' Stadium, and other waterfront attractions are just a 10 minute walk from the hotel.

Just stayed here a few days ago while in Cleveland. Room was a little smallish, but was large enough to accomodate a rollaway bed. We took advantage of a deal on their website that included the room, two tix to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, two free breakfasts in the hotel's restaurant, and valet parking for $155. Self parking is about 2 blocks away and still costs around $12, not worth the aggravation. The breakfast buffet in the restaurant was quite good, including fresh fruit, bacon and eggs, waffles and made to order omelettes (I think it runs about $13.95 pp if you don't get it through a package). We stayed two days (which means we got four R&R HOF tix, 4 breakfasts, and two nights valet, which worked out perfect for our family of 4), and there's plenty to see and do in Cleveland besides the R&R HOF. Don't miss the USS Cod Submarine, Lolly the Trolley for a quick tour of the city (do the 1 hour tour, the 2 hour can get monotonous, plus that's about all the time you can handle in the rather small seats), eating at one of the sidewalk cafes or restaurants on E 14 St, and if you want to be able to say you went bowling in Cleveland, the Corner Alley also on E14th St. If going in the near future, make sure to check out the filming of the Avengers around E 9th St.

My husband and I were at the Blue Bar during happy hour. Wonderful place, great drinks, great food and wonderful bartenders, especially Jim! Unfortunately a manager named Jason showed up to help out with a "TV" issue. I have never seen a manager speak to someone like Jason did. He flat out took the remote out of Jim's hand, spoke to him like he was a child and said "This is real easy, you push this button and it works!" He was such a jerk and how embarrassing to his peers! Jason should be fired due to his unprofessionalism! What a cocky SOB! Jason put a damper on Happy Hour!

My partner and I stayed at the Wyndham Cleveland in July and August 2011. We are patients at the Cleveland Clinic. Be sure to ask for the Cleveland Clinic rate if you are a patient. The hotel has a courtesy shuttle to about anywhere a traveler would want to go. Also there is a bus sponsored by the Cleveland Clinic which runs about every 10 minutes or so in the daytime that will take you right to Cleveland Clinic for a nominal charge. We took the Lolly Trolley Tour and we went back to the Jacobs Pavilion to take in the Bob Dylan/Leon Russell concert on Saturday, August 6th. We love the cocktail lounge with pretzels and beef jerky with nicely appointed, clean, and comfortable furniture. Nearby is Playhouse Square. Up the street is Otto Moeser's restaurant close to the theaters. Room service is very good here. We had some problems with a late night meal but management was very sensitive to our needs and eventually got everything right and ended up taking the tab for the meal. We love this place and the Cleveland Clinic. We are lucky to only live only 250 miles away to these valuable resources! Thanks to worker Kermit and the valet parking staff in helping us to load our car so I could sit in the back seat in my journey home. See you in September!

Room Tip: Handicapped rooms are #19 on each floor, much bigger room and bathroom, plenty of space for patient...

Nadia and Jenise and Jamie were OUTSTANDING front desk representatives for this hotel. I had 3 rooms booked for Green Bay Packer fans and Clients. My clients raved about the quality of the rooms and how helpful each of the ladies were for requests and service. My clients loved the Hotel even with their Packers losing the football game.

Arrived about 1600 and went with Valet parking $20. Do yourself a favor, spend the extra five bucks. The self-park is 3 blocks away and I wouldn't advise walking here with suitcases unless you are a sprint champion. Me and my sons went for a Cleveland Indians game and it was very close and convenient to the stadium, less than 5-minute walk. Lots of closed-down buildings around the hotel, sad really, the city seems to be closing down.

The room was a good size and clean. Amenities a little tired, table was warped from moisture?? and the 19" TV has got to go. Pool was very good with sauna and jacuzzi and the hours very generous. Staff was very friendly and efficient and a big reason I would recommend staying here. Didn't try the bar/restaurant. Most of the eateries are down by the Indians/Cavaliers stadiums but I'm not sure I'd venture down there if no game was being played.

We walked down to the Rock N Roll hall of fame in the morning (10-minute walk) and it's a nice view from down there but no much open with regards to food, drink, etc. Like I said, Cleveland seems to be closing up. Hopefully things will turn around, the people seem very nice.
