The intercontinental in Cleveland was a bit of a let down for me.
The area: This hotel is located right in the heart of downtown Cleveland, 1 mile away from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame & Museum, and approx. 1/2 mile from Progressive Field. The hotel's building is also connected to a casino which has a major bus stop outside. With that said, there is an influx of people standing around the entrance of the hotel, and there are definitely some interesting characters.
When you first walk in from ground level, you have to walk up a flight of stairs to make it to the front desk. If you don't need to see the front desk, you have go around the stairs and through a hall to get to the elevators (which are poorly marked). As a first time guest, it is very confusing. On the same note, the room # signs outside the elevator are placed in a very inconspicuous spot outside the elevator.
The Room: When you first walk into the room, you can tell that the building is very old and has been redone a few times. The bathroom is nice, but the dresser and TV are placed adjacent to the bed, which requires you to turn the TV a full 90 degrees to be able to see it. The bed was very comfortable and had incredible pillows (a must for a good night of rest). If there was one suggestion that I could change about to room it would be to include more home-like amenities such as a microwave and possibly a mini bar with refreshments so you don't have to try and tackle the downtown Cleveland area at night if you're craving some Oreos & Milk (not from experience or anything). On a more positive note, since the building is older, the walls are much more insulated than newer hotels, so the halls and rooms are very quiet making it easier to sleep.
