“Great Day for a Game”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 26, 2012

Had a great visit to this hotel. Staff was friendly and helpful. Lobby was inviting.
Room Service food: just ok. Room was clean and bed was comfy. Pool was iffy. Very old and could see a lot of "indications" of age. Room view was actually great. Had direct view of the stadium. Have to ask for that view I am sure. Club level lounge was good. Nice staff up there. breakfast was good. Restaurant buffet downstairs was also very good. Would visit again. Thank you for the hospitality.

Room Tip: As for a view of the stadium/lake.

This is an average Marriott. Rooms are pretty nice, though beds aren't very comfortable and pillows are lumpy. But every room has a fridge and some have nice views of the lake or the square downtown, which at this time of year is all lit up with Christmas lights! Front desk staff is efficient and very friendly. Gym is decent, though it gets quite warm in there due to it being attached to the pool area. I would stay here again.

We booked 2 rooms for the night before a Browns game. Arrived at midnight, and was greeted and checked in very quickly. We got the keys to the room and took our luggage up. The room was adequate and clean. Breakfast buffet(not free) in David's was well stocked with fresh hot breakfast foods. Had 2 gentlemen making omlettes as well. If you are staying overnight on a weekend and will not need in-out privileges, do not use valet parking, as the 24 hour rate for weekends is only $8.

We had a king room with a rollaway and stayed 3 nights for a wedding. Valets were courteous to us even when we were self-parking at check-in. Front desk found reservation smoothly, had room keys in minutes, smiling friendly check-in experience. Lobby is festively decorated for the December season, small groups of guests gathered for drinks, a variety of music playing from the speakers. Room was clean and nice. Bed was very comfortable, sink in cushy kind of bed, very relaxing. Lots of charging outlets but internet service is an extra $13/day, lobby internet was free. We didn't know the fridge wasn't working so our leftover pizza was ruined, the staff replaced the fridge and gave us a room-service credit for another pizza and took the other charge off. They also left a message to confirm that the problem was fixed in case we had any other concerns. At check-in they forgot our wedding party gift bag and brought it to our door just minutes after we got to the room. I thought the staff was very very nice. Smiling and welcoming. Even as we came through the outside door at midnight on Friday night, a hotel employee enthusiastically held the door open and said "Welcome to the Marriott". We had a panhandler follow us nearly to the door of the hotel on Saturday night late and told the front desk who immediately sent a security person outside to remedy the situation. I felt safe and relaxed in and around that hotel. It is close walking distance to the Horseshoe casino and many nice restaurants. Parking is right under the hotel, $20 to self-park but weekend was $8 if you pay as you go. I loved it. The staff made the hotel stand-out in my opinion. Also the concierge gentleman was very polite and a good communicator, he had everything we needed and knew the answers about Cleveland. I would definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: We were on the Mall Road Side which looks at the beautiful statue in the square and to the left you...

We stayed here for one night only (Friday night), and you know overall it was nice. Nothing stood out as great, or bad it was pretty much what you would expect from a higher end hotel. The locations is great, easy walking distance to the new casino (if you like that), easy walking distance to some great restaurants, and attractions. All the staff was really nice, we had the buffet with an omelet station and all was good. We had a couple things of no great issue, one was I could not determine if something smelled in our room (musty) but I just picked it up every so often so I figured it was my sensitive nose and we were near the house keeping room and when you walk about by you could smell ammonia sometimes. The bed was not too bad but I had some troubles getting comfortable with the pillows which I did not sleep well. There is a high chance I would stay there again, and if for some reason i got a really good rate then it would be no brainier. We were on the 5th floor looking right at the casino building but it was a tad too low.

Room Tip: For sights, get a higher room level.

This hotel had good and bad going for it for our whole 6 day stay. There were a number of problems for the first few days--shower didn't drain, they didn't clean the room one day and other minor annoyances. However, the view from our room was wonderful and we were high up enough to not be bothered by the construction. And the wait staff was always polite about our complaints. Then the last day we had a major problem (not with the hotel, but with a separate business issue they had nothing to do with) and the manager and staff spent well over an hour solving it for us! Went far beyond what they would have been required to do--so four stars for sure.

Room Tip: Facing the lake is usually your best bet--if there is no construction on that side. Higher floors ha...

To start off no one on their front desk staff knows how to communicate with their bosses and peers. GABY their "Operations Manager" is an absolute joke. She has no customer service skills and is horrbie with guests. We had multiple issues at this hotel and none of them were resolved. No one at this hotel is empowered to do anything to help the guests. I WOULD NEVER STAY AT THIS HOTEL AGAIN....

All readers save your time and money and dont spend a cent on this dump. Ive never seen such a horrible staff in my 25 years of traveling.

And to go further on Gaby she isnt even pleasent when dealing with guests. In fact she cursed in front of my daughter who is 6 years old. Marriott customer care will defintely be getting a call about this property.

Thank you for letting me voice my opinion.
