“Great visit for fans of the movie and director Bob Clark”
Reviewed February 13, 2013

I recommend you watch this movie again shortly before you visit this museum – especially if you’ve never seen the movie!

It was great fun to see this film shoot location restored to its retro, nostalgic glory. There are three different houses involved, including the house utilized in the movie, the gift shop where you also purchase tickets, and a museum displaying movie props and information about the movie. Your admission price includes a tour of the movie house on the inside. All of this combined makes for a worthwhile trip.

There is lots of free street parking available.

* Using a Groupon for the admission tickets (half off) made it extra worhwhile.

If you’re downtown, you can also see the former Higbee’s site – which is where the parade scene took place, and the mall Santa scene inside the building. It is now a casino, but the distinctive floor-to-ceiling columns are still there.

FYI – most of the film was shot in Toronto, including: almost all of the house interior scenes filmed at a studio in Scarborough; the scene where Ralphie says ‘fudge, ‘ at the Cherry St. Bridge; the Chinese food restaurant on Gerard St.; the purchase of the X-mas tree on Queen St.; and some outdoor chase scenes with the bullies.

Speaking of houses and Bob Clark, the ‘sorority house’ from Clark’s stellar horror film “Black Christmas” is actually a regular house in an affluent neighbourhood close to Casa Loma in Toronto.

“Was interesting”

Was a great job at restoring the house to its original look. The museum is worth the visit too. We watched the movie the night before going to have it fresh in our mind. Wasn't disappointed.

“You'll SHOOT your eyes out!!!”
Reviewed February 11, 2013

Prices in the gift shop are average for a gift shop I'd say. But the weridos who were in the film that linger and just plain creepy. Keep your kids close. j/k They were just grumpy and asking $$$ alot for a signature. Who are you again? You played who........ House tour was perfect though. Every room looks like it has never changed. So nice around Christmas time. Something so simply, yet so perfect.

“Loved it!”
Reviewed February 5, 2013

Being a huge fan of the movie, I wanted to come here since hearing that it was now a tourist attraction. There's also a museum across the street as well as a gift shop. The house was great and the tour guide was amazing. A lot of the scenes were not filmed in the house...but that's ok. I still felt like I was in the movie!
