This restaurant recently moved into a location that had been occupied by another steak house for many years. The redo of the interior is spectacular. For those who think a steak with mushrooms and onions is haute cuisine this is a destination restaurant. For people who look for more innovative menus it is not. Service started out well, but went downhill. We waited and waited for our salads. Just when we were giving up our entrees arrived. They were taken away and replaced with salads, only one of which had the correct dressing. Eventually our entrees were served. Our wait person assured us that they had not been kept warm under a heat lamp. Hmm? Having one person take the order and then having a variety of other people serve various parts of a meal seems to be just about standard now. Unfortunately it often leads to this kind of confusion. Dinner for two was $100 dollars. Things need to be tightened up. Service at the Brown Derby is actually better. Having said all that, accepting what it is, this is a nice addition to the local restaurant scene. It was packed on a cold, mid- week winter night.

Visited the new Ferris with high hope. It started out well, the new England clam chowder was creamy and delicious, the side salads were fresh and well dressed. An order of battered cod was crispy and moist, the best dish of the evening. A prime rib was chewy and quite bland, 2 delmonicos were cooked to order but appeared baked--no searing was apparent. We normally don't do dessert, but our waitress brought us a tiramisu cake (that was delicious) to make up for the prime rib. I will give them one more chance to improve. Only because our waitress was the best part of the experience.

This place is closer to a sport's bar or something like an Outback Steak House. Two of our three meals were a total disaster. The Ferris special (Tenderloin Tips) was tough and chewy with no flavor. It arrived overdone and was sent back. The replacement was not much better and after two bites it was history. My porterhouse (medium rare) was ashen and grey in color - not a single grill mark or searing. It looked and tasted like it was broiled in an electric oven. Over priced for the money at $23 and $34. Our server was an order taker at best. She never offered cocktails or reviewed the menu/specials. We had to ask for rolls and what we got was on a par with stale Wonder Bread. There is no ambiance - it's a sports bar. Large windows face the street and the parking lot with headlights illuminating the dining room. Crowded and noisy, the tables have no linen. Drinks are overpriced for what you get. My martini (called) was watered down and average in size but it still cost $10.50. They are open until 2:30 AM every day so I think they plan on making their money on drinks. The manager must have agreed because he comp'd two of our meals.

My husband and I tried the new location...what a disappointment. This is nothing but "one more sports bar." The new Ferris has destroyed the ambiance of the old Rockcliffe. The food was nothing special and very pricey. For people who have been in the restaurant business, their staff was clueless. Having to sit at tables less than 2 feet apart, viewing the bathroom doors and having huge TV's intrude upon any special meal outing is not my idea of a fun night. A very sad loss for the Rocky River neighborhood.
