“Go during the Holidays to enjoy public Square lights!”
Reviewed December 16, 2012 via mobile

Just went last night and the views of this restaurant of the Public Square lights are fantastic! Go during the Holiday season for the outdoor light display and a nice meal. The decor in this restaurant is old school, which actually adds to it's relaxed "olden day" charm. Make sure to peruse the sports memorabilia on the walls and tables. Food was good, had a 10oz. Steak with blue cheese & wine sauce. My table enjoyed sausage filled pepper, crab cake & onion ring apps. All main menu items $20 or more, except burgers that I also hear are very good. Overall nice experience!

“Good Steak in the Middle of Everything Cleveland”
Reviewed December 12, 2012

Based on one dinner, had an excellent martini with a small prime rib serving. While I have been to much more upscale "steak houses" (some are way over the top), I enjoy the more relaxed, comfortable feeling to John Q's. The staff was friendly and attentive without being overbearing. We were in business attire, but there were locals there dressed casually, enjoying themselves.

Nice collection of Cleveland memorabilia around the front door. My prime rib we served just right and just the right size. Being on a somewhat protein focused diet, I only had the Caesar salad for an appetizer (good, but not memorable) and the garlic spinach on the side (very good).

Best was it was within walking distance of the hotel, through the Fountain Square area with its Christmas lights. Thumbs up.

“John Q's is a great downtown option”
Reviewed November 29, 2012

Good food, good drinks... happy hour is great, and it is convenient to stop before or after a game at Browns Stadium or Jacobs Field.

“Just really good food and Beer.”

Well I come to Cleveland often and this place has a nice bar and the best burger in town. Ice cold local beer. Great place on the fringe of downtown Cleveland.

“A bit of a turkey”
Reviewed November 25, 2012

My husband and I went here for Thanksgiving and, while the staff members were great, the food was - meh. The meal was buffet style and for the size of the room dedicated to the food, you'd think it would be fit for a king. Instead, generic dishes were in place in sparse quantities a sad looking, picked over smoked salmon; salad with bits and pieces scattered around the bowls; chafing dishes with 'passed their prime' odd choices like chicken marsala and cod. While I take quality over quantity any day, this was a bust. The mains (ham, beef, chicken) were on a carving board and the attending carvers were very nice - I wish that translated into quality but fell short again. Perhaps it would have been better to try on a regular night rather than a holiday but, given all the positive reviews, I thought it would shine. Oh well.
