“Great New Year's Eve dinner!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 2, 2013

Four of us had a delightful dinner experience on New Year's Eve. From our wines by the glass - each excellent - to our stuffed banana pepper app to our salads, entrees and desserts, everything was masterfully prepared, lovingly presented and full of flavor. The lobster thermidor was a huge hit, as were the excellent filet mignon and the duck confit. Now we know why so many whose food opinions we respect speak so highly of this restaurant. It isn't cheap, but it is absolutely worth the premium pricing. We will definitely be back.

“Great dining experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 1, 2013

Our first visit to Fire was very well-received. We truly enjoyed the interesting and well-rounded menu. Everything was top-notch, of excellent quality and presentation. We loved the ambiance of the modern interior, which was very comfortable and intimate.
Food was excellent and perfectly prepared. Desserts were perfection. I love the idea of Fire utilizing fresh, local and sustainable produce, fish, and meats. I will be back again.

“Nice Fresh casual dining place”

I have been there for Sunday Breakfast only the food is good, the ambiance is nice on the patio for Alfresco Dining, but the inside is a bit congested and busy.

“Lived up to its reputation”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 13, 2012

Two of us made early reservations a Fire Food and Drink on Saturday, last. Everything was excellent from the greeting at the door to the last bite of food. The menu is nicely diverse and offers some very interesting combinations. Popover appetizers were a first for me, but definitely now on my list. The 3 of them were perfectly puffy and brown on the outside and almost creamy delicate on the inside. My Caesar Salad was served nicely dressed but with the six additions waiting to be added as desired. Perfect. And, oh, the Duck Confit! Crackling brown skin done just right with succulent meat underneath. The herbed spaetzle along with the spinach made the just right accompaniments. My dining companion had the lamb chop and pronounced it excellent.
With drinks and the Ciabatta bread, who needed dessert! We passed on that.

“First Visit”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 11, 2012

We'd heard a lot of good things about Fire, but for some reason, kept putting off the dining experience; maybe because Shaker Square is so depressing and pretentious at the same time. Our recent dinner was a decent experience, but the best we can say about it was "Good". Not great. Especially for the value. The wine list offers a range of choice in variety and price, so that was nice. We split a Caesar salad, which was excellent, then tried the clay bread (waiter's suggestion over the popovers), also tasty. Crispy Duck Confit was amazing, but I'd have appreciated some more of the spaeztle, mushrooms and sauce with it. Lamb Shank was very tender and flavorful, but not the best we've ever had (go to Bistro 185 for that). The Popcorn Ice Cream Sundae was a fine end to the meal.

Our server was very attentive and helpful--he gets an A+. Atmosphere was weird. Fire is apparently billed as a classy place, with classy food, wine and prices to go with, so why do they seat their customers at tables placed way too close together, in cheap Ikea chairs that are incredibly uncomfortable? The poor server could barely dish up our food or take orders at the next table without sticking his butt in our faces; not his fault. Also, the open kitchen concept is interesting if it's done right. However, being seated directly in front of a counter where the food comes out and dishes are kept does not make for a relaxing or romantic dining experience.
