“Great Dining Spot”
Reviewed July 20, 2013

Quite a hip looking modern feel to this renovated jewelry store. We ate at the bar...fun bartender, good size drinks, excellent food. Karen had the sinful deep fried chicken livers...luscious. I started with escargot done in a much different style but also very good, followed by a tasting fish entry. They have valet parking which is very helpful. I think before the theater crowed fills this place up so plan accordingly....but well worth the visit.

“OH, yes, I will be back!”
Reviewed July 14, 2013

The three of us had tickets to a play and had made reservations at another restaurant nearby. However, due to a huge storm, which delayed our trio into Cleveland by 30 minutes, that restaurant was closed when we got there. I was disappointed that they hadn't bothered to call and tell the reservation holders they were not open. (We had tried calling but got no answer, so we suspected they were closed.) After checking with the theater to make sure they were open, we walked down the street and found Cowell and Hubbard. None of us had ever been to a French restaurant before. We asked about getting seated without a reservation and about getting out in time as it was now only a little more than an hour before showtime. They were most gracious, seated us immediately, bought bread and oil almost before we were seated, and were excellent about not only getting us out in time but in working with my friend who has severe food allergies. We had trout, lamb, and beef and all were absolutely the best. The presentation was beautiful, the service attentive, food delicious beyond compare. We may never get the chance to try the first restaurant because we all agreed that we want to come back to Cowell and Hubbard.

“Unique menu, upscale dining”
Reviewed July 8, 2013 via mobile

4 of us had pre-theater dinner. Our server asked us about timing and kept us on schedule. Each of us loved our food-scallops, redfish, salmon, beef cheeks-all outstanding-the butternut squash appetizer could be an entree if you order 2! Delicious! The restaurant was full and with the ambient noise, conversation was sometimes compromised. It only added to the energy!

“Good food and cocktails”
Reviewed June 21, 2013 via mobile

I attended an event here, and loved the food. The bar staff was incredibly friendly, and mixed a great cocktail. Good wines as well. The atmosphere is comfortable - definitely nice, but not stuffy. Would love to return for dinner.

“Great place”
Reviewed June 10, 2013

We dined on a Wed. evening as a party of four for a Birthday dinner. We had reservations and could be seated immediately. The appy's we ordered were fantastic. We had the seafood dumplings and roasted peppers with shrimp. For Entrees we had Red Fish, Beef Cheeks, Breaded Veal, and Strip Steak au Poivre. They were all very good, the best IMO was the Beef Cheeks, and I wish I would've been the one to have ordered it. I ordered the veal which was good, cooked to perfection, but not a ton of flavor. The steak and fish were also really good. Will definitely be back.
