The three of us had tickets to a play and had made reservations at another restaurant nearby. However, due to a huge storm, which delayed our trio into Cleveland by 30 minutes, that restaurant was closed when we got there. I was disappointed that they hadn't bothered to call and tell the reservation holders they were not open. (We had tried calling but got no answer, so we suspected they were closed.) After checking with the theater to make sure they were open, we walked down the street and found Cowell and Hubbard. None of us had ever been to a French restaurant before. We asked about getting seated without a reservation and about getting out in time as it was now only a little more than an hour before showtime. They were most gracious, seated us immediately, bought bread and oil almost before we were seated, and were excellent about not only getting us out in time but in working with my friend who has severe food allergies. We had trout, lamb, and beef and all were absolutely the best. The presentation was beautiful, the service attentive, food delicious beyond compare. We may never get the chance to try the first restaurant because we all agreed that we want to come back to Cowell and Hubbard.
