Not only is this an interesting and entertaining museum, it is housed in a lovely historic mansion. So glad that the structure is preserved, as well as the artifacts.

The brochure on transportation is what caught our eye and made us visit. My wife is crazy about vintage cars. Most of these were from the very early years and I didn't even recognize the names. There were a few planes also. Society had a good collection of maps, but the model train display was very disappointing. Nice collection of carousel horses also.

We have been here more than once and find it a good value and interesting. Younger children may like to go on days when they offer special entertainment or events. Close to the art museum and botanical gardens.

Wonderful place to research fro Genealogists. If you have New England ancestors this is a good place to locate those hard to find books.

The ticket and parking are not inexpensive so one has high hopes of the quality of the exhibits. One walks into a huge hall with a magnificent mural (as I recall I saw it in the terminal years ago), a statue and little else.
The staff that I actually spoke to could not have been nicer and more helpful.
The exhibits seemed dowdy ans skimpy. I was very excited about the stone carving exhibit as I spend a great deal of time in Lakeside and other cemeteries admiring the the carving. The pieces were very limited.
There were excellent documenteries running on small screens. No chairs or benches were provided so that one could watch comfortably.
I feel like the museum needs some fresh ideas and staff with energy to carry it off.
I felt this was not really money well spent.
