“Trip to the cemetery”
Reviewed October 23, 2013 via mobile

We visited here to kill some time before the rock and roll Hall of fame. What a beautiful place. There were lovely ponds and hills and we even saw a deer. We also had a tour guide step on the coach to explain the points of interest. We also visited a mausoleum.

“period piece”
Reviewed October 4, 2013

A walk in this urban park--unlike any other, since Lake View is a 19th Century Cemetery--reveals volumes about the American way of death. Most impressive is the memorial to President Garfield; other mausoleums display the aesthetics of past eras. Lake View is well maintained throughout the year and makes for particularly pleasant hiking in winter.

“Top site to see in Cleveland?”
Reviewed September 30, 2013

The cemetery was listed as a top site to see while in Cleveland. Other then Garfield's tomb there is not much to see in the cemetery. The stained glass windows are beautiful.

The docent was excellent. Friendly and well informed not only about Garfield's life but also the details of the tomb.

“Beautiful Place to Spend Eternity / or a few hours”
Reviewed September 24, 2013

I love cemeteries - and this one did not disappoint!

Interesting Masoleums, rolling hills, beautifully manicured. Nice lake with sculptures.

Spent 3.5 hours there. Drove around. Walked around. Visited the beautiful chapel and the Garfield tomb. Took a ton of pictures.

Guides at the chapel and tomb were knowledeable. Their brief explanations were good. Picked up a little history on the Cleveland area and its forefathers (and mothers).

Beautiful place to spend eternity - or an afternoon.

I felt very safe - lots of people around on a Monday: people walking their dogs, cemetery workers, people visiting graves of their loved ones.

“Air show secret”
Reviewed September 20, 2013

Amazing cemetery, yadda yadda. Read the other review to get the details. I popped in here to drop a little interesting bit of knowledge. During the week of the Cleveland air show go to the top of President Garfield's tomb. Since it is built on a hill and pokes out of the tree line the Navy pilots use it as a turn around point. It is awesome to watch the jets head straight at you from Burke Lakefront Airport and then go into a steep bank right in front of you. Plus admission is free. Enjoy!
