“Excellent Hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 25, 2011

The shuttle service to and from the Cleveland Clinic was the main reason we selected this hotel. The shuttle service was excellent, the hotel staff was friendly and very helpful. The hotel was very clean, there was a nice restaurant in the hotel, and there were three elevators which were all clean and very fast. My room had a coffee pot, microwave, refrigerator, hair dryer, and even an iron and ironing board. I was very pleased with this hotel and would definitely recommend it and gladly stay in this hotel again.

I have stayed at this hotel twice and each time, I am more amazed by the excellent service of the front desk, the quality of the rooms(we had a suite which provided a refrigerator and microwave), the most comfortable bed, large size of the room also. The bed is wonderful, so comfortable, a great choice of pillows, everything in the room is top notch. I will continue to return to this hotel everytime I visit Cleveland which is at least once a year!

We booked this hotel, and then happened to get into the ER and the hospital later that day. We could not travel for at least 3 days. They refused to refund our money or move the date up a few days. We will never book this hotel again.

I was going to the Cleveland Clinic and this hotel is essentially on the hospital's campus so I was able to easily walk to the hospital and back on my trip. The hotel is also on the "health line" bus which runs very regularly to downtown.

The rooms were clean and well appointed, including a micro, fridge, coffee maker, etc. This is one more hotel that offers wired internet connections that didn't actually work, though the wireless worked fine, if slow at times. I was in two rooms in two stays over a week and both rooms had problems with their wired connection - this has been fairly common in my experience with other hotels and often wish they wouldn't even offer if it they couldn't maintain it.

I'd definitely come here again on a return trip to Cleveland.

We stayed here when my father was at the Cleveland Clinic for some heart related procedures and surgery. The hotel is very close. About a block walking distance to the J building.

The hotel has recently undergone a remodeling in its rooms. They are very nice, and they are ample in space and amenities. They have refrigerators, seating area with flatscreen TV, and the bedroom has TV. Nice beds.

The parking wasn't an issue, because we didn't drive. So, the transportation was somewhat of an issue. I called the hotel ahead of time about a shuttle, but I was told that we would have to catch a taxi. Cab ride is around $$40-45.

When we talked to the morning concierge, he told us that the only transportation was taxi. So, we paid for the taxi to the Rock Hall of Fame, $15. When we left rock hall, we talked to some locals. They told us to go downtown, near the Tower Mall to catch the Medical Line. It is a bus service that has its own dedicated lane on Euclid to get from downtown to the EastSide near the University and Cleveland Clinic. That ride cost us $4.50...

The evening concierge called the courtesy van, which we were told didn't exist, and it took us to Little Italy for a great dinner and some tiramisu (see the corresponding reviews). I called the concierge after dinner, and the van arrived promptly and brought us back to the hotel. On the return trip to the airport, the desk clerk informed us that they had a car service that they could call to give us a ride for $40. Less money than the taxi, and the ride is in a Cadillac or Lincoln. Opt for that! The taxis in Cleveland are broken down and smell.

Anyway, in a nutshell:
` Call for the car service to and from the airport.
` Use the "courtesy van."
` Take the med line to downtown and walk to the attractions.
` Visit Little Italy for a great Meal.
` Cleveland Clinic is an attraction all its own!

The restaurant in the hotel is way overpriced, but it has a large selection on the breakfast bar. IN the Cleveland Clinic, there are several options for less money and the same quality of food. The pictures here on Trip Advisor show a pool, but there is no pool and no spa. It has a workout room, which is fairly decent and has new equipment.

Room Tip: Ask for government discount, or ask about any of them. We got our room for half the price my mother...

This hotel is located in a great location if you're receiving medical care at the Cleveland Clinic. For a long-term stay, the small kitchen in the room eases the expense and having 2 rooms helps a lot. If you have someone coming to stay with you to help you through some medical issues, it makes it comfortable for all. The beds are comfortable and the newly-renovated rooms are clean and comfy. They offer a very nice shuttle service to local attractions, and the Cleveland Clinic courtesy shuttles all stop right out front of the hotel.

On the downside, the staff is not too responsive for requests for assistance. I had to call multiple times to get something fixed in my room and public areas in the hotel are not often well-kept. For example, the gym is great with wonderful equipment that is new and functional, but the amenities that accompany the gym are rarely attended to (i.e. Water cooler not filled, towels not replaced, no way to wipe down equipment when you're done). The restaurant is apparently new as of August 2011. The food - while not bad - is not remarkable, and it is extremely expensive for what you get. The restaurant and room service could improve if they either reduce the cost or add an incentive (i.e. more set meals, better offering of snacks and small meals). The parking is fairly pricey too for CLEVELAND -- $16/day for parking? That is more Washington, DC. It's way too much for Cleveland. You may park at the hospital for $10, there is a parking garage behind the hotel.

On the whole, not a bad hotel, but falls short of being excellent due to service. If you're seeking a comfortable, quiet place to recover, this is a great place, but come with reasonable expectations.

Room Tip: The layout of the rooms is very good, but ask for a room away from the elevators (the ice makers are...

We have been at the InterContinental Suites for three weeks while a family member recovers from a 12 hour complex surgery. We chose a suite which has a separate living room, micro wave & refrigerator. The frig is larger than most small hotel units, so you can keep water, juice and still have room for other goodies. The regular rooms are only ten dollars less that the suites, so the suits was a no-brainer.
The hotel was recently renovated, so it is quite acceptable. You cannot find a better hotel staff. From the doormen, the front desk to the restaurant/bar and room service, everyone is efficient and pleasant. They make you truly feel like a guest. The hotel has a weekly rate which reduces the price by 27% and valet parking goes down by 25%. I compared this hotel to the other InterContinental adjacent to the clinic and the guest house across the street from the clinic. We chose this hotel. It is only one block from the hotel and is so much nicer than the guest house for 18% more. The other InterContinental is more deluxe and more expensive. If we were on holiday, maybe we would choose it, but what we wanted was a friendly, efficient hotel with a good restaurant that casual dress was the norm. TheC2 Restaurant is outstanding for a US hotel. I will write a separate review for it.

Room Tip: There are two different suite floor plans. One the traditional (our room) the other more open with s...
