“One of the BEST music venues in CLE!”
Reviewed October 24, 2013

You could go see a show someplace in downtown, pay for parking, walk through tight security, buy a watered down, overpriced drink and pay $10 more than you would at the Beachland for the same performer, FREE parking, well-made drinks and friendly service from the door to the bartenders! The Beachland is located in an up-and-coming artsy neighborhood and although it seems to have a shady reputation lasting from years ago I hit up this venue at least twice a month and have NEVER felt unsafe walking back to my car whether I parked in one of the lots near the venue or on the street even when I am out solo.

The building is split between the smaller Tavern and the large Ballroom, and frequently have different acts playing on both stages. Both stages are very accessible to the audience and several times I've been able to chat with my favorite performers as they were chilling at the bar after their set or taking in the next performer on the lineup. It's almost like seeing your favorite act perform in your high school gym. There's just a friendly vibe in this place that promotes a real LOVE of music, the artists/performers that make it and the fans that support it!

“A must for serious music fans”
Reviewed October 2, 2013

For years this place has been kicking out the jams for all kinds of music, although indie, folk, pop and a little blues tend to play here most frequently. The Ballroom is a pretty big and well-kept former ethnic hall with a small bar area; the Tavern (which usually puts on smaller shows with separate admission) is your standard rock n' roll bar venue. The food here is quite good and worth checking out. There's also a vintage store (This Way Out) in the basement that's open at night during larger shows. They even do a Sunday brunch with a DJ. Be aware that the surrounding neighborhood is just starting to get its act together, although there is maybe one restaurant and a few hip shops, most notably a record store close to the Beachland that is also open during larger shows as well as regular business hours. It's still a little shady area, so park in a well-lit well-traveled spot, be careful walking around and generally mind your urban p's and q's, but if you're generally streetwise in big cities you won't be put off. Danny Greene's former residence was a couple doors down (look for the big KABOOM). As of Sept. 2013, Waterloo was having the street torn up for new underground mains, so it kinda looks like a bomb site down there till they get it done, but the club is still accessible.

“a wonderful concert hall”
Reviewed August 31, 2013

great owners that occasionally feature some great classic rock acts like THE ZOMBIES who were excellent. most of the music is too modern for me, but they have a nice, small tavern with bands and a huge ballroom for larger acts. so much better than dtn clubs and free parking on the st.

“Great place to hear live music”
Reviewed July 8, 2013

I can't add much to what the other reviewers have said. It is fun, warm and accessible. Every kind of person there from young too old. The music is varied and every genre down to some I didn't know existed, like the funky polka rock band we saw on Friday night. I do like that the bar is outside the music venue so you can walk in and out at will. We watch the band for a bit then go talk in the bar. You can still hear the band but also your conversation. Great place for music, never had the food but saw it go past, looked like typical bar food.

“Great concert venue!”
Reviewed May 31, 2013

Not sure what that image to the left is cause it's not Beachland, but it is one of the best places to see a show. Fit for music snobs, not your average pop music fan.
