I liked the USS Cod because you get to climb aboard a real sub and get to tour it at your leisure. Most of the sub controls are within your grasp and going aboard it gives you a sense of how tight and cramped it must have been for the young men on board. It is worth seeing if you have an hour or so to kill.

“Must See”
Reviewed September 5, 2012

It's next to the Rock and Roll HOF it takes no more than an hour and if you have any interest in naval history or even just curious to see how these men lived it is well worth the visit.

“Too cool for school”

Love this attraction. I've visited it before but went this Labor Day weekend with my almost four year old son. My son is an observer--he watched everything and everyone as there were volunteers inside and outside the submarine and was mesmerized. The volunteers were very knowledgable and friendly. It takes a bit to maneuver in the tight spaces, but that just gives one a better appreciation for the men who served aboard her. The admission price of $7 for adults and $6 for seniors is a bit steep though.

“Well Maintained”
Reviewed September 2, 2012

At $7.00 for an adult it's a great deal and who wouldn't like to see the inside of a submarine. The people who take care of this boat for others to enjoy are doing a great job. The Cod has a story to tell and it’s one that we can enjoy. It’s kind of hard to in and out of. You go down a hatch on the forward area and climb out a hatch in the rear. Going from one compartment to another is also a bit tight. I toured the Cod as a youngster and I remembered it as much smaller than it is. Once inside it’s a fair distance from one end to the other.

“Well-maintained”

When crunched for sight-seeing time, we moved this to the top of the list. Beautiful old sub and they have done a great job keeping it up. Convenient location and employees/volunteers were helpful when I called for directions (note: it is not actually on the pier, you need to turn right on Marginal Rd from E. 9th St.)
