“Nice Hotel in Downtown Cleveland”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 29, 2013

I stayed here while in Cleveland for the Senior National Games. I booked a suite since it was the only room type that was available even though I booked early. The suite had a large sitting area (~ 16' x 18') separated from the sleeping area by a full and half wall. This arrangement would not have been good with two people if one wanted to sleep and the other was up with the light, or TV, on in the sitting area.

There was also a small kitchenette with a mini-fridge and a microwave. The fridge did not have a freezer compartment. The kitchenette had a hot mitt, bottle opener, cork screw and numerous glass glasses. All of the other plates/bowls were Styrofoam. There was a small table for dining at in the sitting area, but there was only the desk chair to use at the table. This would have been a problem if two people wanted to eat together at the table.

The bed was firm, but comfortable. I slept very well. The room was quiet and dark. The bathroom was well lit, but there is no exhaust fan (too common in many hotels) so the mirror fogged up when you shower. The shower head is high on the wall and the water flow in the shower was very strong. The bath towels were soft.

While I saw numerous comments about the parking before I got to the hotel, I found this to be very straightforward. The parking garage is located just around the corner from the hotel and you just need to have your parking ticket validated at the front desk every time you return from the garage. This allows you to exit the garage without paying. You can enter and exit as much as you need to and the daily charge for parking is just added to your bill. While I think that $14 a day for parking is a little high, the logistics seemed to work just fine.

The hotel has very little carpeting. Almost all of the flooring is wood with some marble tile. In fact, it took me a while before I noticed the few places there was any carpeting (entertainment center, one flight of stairs, etc.). I found this to be really nice due to my allergies.

The breakfast in the morning is standard Holiday Inn Express fare. Even though the hotel was very full there seemed to be enough seating in the breakfast area and the staff kept the food well stocked. The only exception was the first morning when they ran out of bananas which I imagine were in great demand due to the large number of senior athletes staying at the hotel. There was no shortage for the next three days.

The hotel is conveniently located in downtown Cleveland. I walked every day to the Convention Center (about 7 or 8 blocks) for our volleyball competition. It is also within walking distance of the Quicken Center and the baseball park. There is an RTA stop in the front of the hotel. There are also many restaurants within a few blocks of the hotel.

The best part about this hotel is the courteous staff. It is close to restaurants, the convention center, casino, rock n roll hall of fame, etc. The breakfast is tasty and the staff tries so hard to replenish everything and keep the dining room tidy. Our room was clean and nicely decorated in a modern style. The king mattress was old, squeaky, we both rolled toward the middle and the sheets did not stay on during the night. Time to replace that mattress in room 710. Pillows are lumpy but towels are soft and thick. The parking is a bit of a hassle to park a half block away and you have to take a ticket and have it validated at the front desk each time you enter the garage. I was not happy that this hotel increased their regular prices for the big event that we attended, the National Senior Games.

Room is very Spacious. Five of us staid (me, hubby, preschooler and 2 toddlers). We had 2 cribs, microwave and fridge in the standard room and still room for children to walk and play. I love the hardwood floor. Bed is comfortable. Bathroom had couple of tile peeling and bit older. room for improvement.

Elevator is small but not bad we fit in our city select double stroller, 3 adult and a child

The staffs are very friendly

Breakfast is good egg, bacon or sausage, pancake, cinnamon roll, muffin, yogurt, coffee, tea, milk juice, banana and cereals. something for everyone

Most of the restaurants in the area close early specially weekend. If you are doing take out plan for it. No room service available

We stayed at this hotel when we visited the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. I loved the hardwood floors. (It makes the room look so clean.) Our room was very spacious with a small couch and table. Loved this room. We had to pay to park but I guess that's common in most cities. The breakfast was a good as any that are complimentary. The only downside was the waitress could not seem to keep the coffee pots full.

Stayed here for an overnight trip for a friends birthday. The location was great and within walking distance to the bars, restaurants, Playhouse Square, the casino, the Q, Progressive Field, etc. Very clean hotel and great staff in the Lobby. The hotel doesn't look like your typical Holiday Inn Express, I love the way they converted the building and the rooms were great with hardwood floors and floor to ceiling windows. Very reasonably priced for downtown in the summer.

Really unique & hUge rooms with hardwood floors! Clean & comfortable . Good breakfast bar. Coffee in room is not worth drinking. Staff is Okay. Convenient downtown location. Price is right.Lobby is not too inviting; like an old post office. Sterile common areas & halls.

The staff was very friendly and the rooms were clean and huge. The location was good, too. It's very close to the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame and excellent restaurants. My only complaint is that the mattress/box spring on the bed was saggy. Remember to bring cash for the hotel parking garage ($16 overnight in the PNC center around back).
