If you want a fancy B&B with antiques and quaintness galore, then this is not the place for you. If, however, you are a traveler that values experiences and interesting people, then this is a fine choice.
The rooms are perfectly clean (we looked at all 3). The owner is very friendly but not fawning and obsequious. He cares about his guests in a kind of grandfatherly way. The breakfast that Mr Parker provided was large and hearty and very tasty. And it was quite nice that he joined us so that we could learn about him and his neighborhood and his city.
Mr Parker is an artist and he even volunteered a tour of his adjacent and fascinating studio.
Mr Parker's home is a grand 100-year old pile. He has done the renovation himself. Everything has a kind of homemade and make-do way about it and all is done with the style of a creative artist.
The doors have locks that can be switched on from the inside but no key from the outside. It would be absurd to feel unsafe under Mr Parker's care as was mentioned in a previous review.
My 3-star rating is only an average. An adventurous traveler looking for unique experiences would give it 4-5 stars. A person who wants a pristine Victorian museum would probably give it 2.
