My husband and I spent a weekend sightseeing in Columbus, using the Brownstone Inn as home base. Robin Yates is an excellent host. In the morning, over our big breakfast, he would ask what activities we were considering, and then he would offer brochures and directions. Plus he got us a discount at That Place on Bellflower, which is a lovely University Circle restaurant, just 10 minutes away. Downtown and the Westside Market are also 10 minutes away. Our room was large, we had a private bath, there was parking out front, the bed was comfortable. And the house is lovely, with old wood floors and antiques sprinkled around. The parlor is full of books, including one Robin suggested that filled us in on the history of nearby Euclid Avenue. And the people we met at breakfast were interesting. My only complaint is small: there are several doorknobs on each door, an antique and a new one. It took awhile to figure out that the top knob got us out of our room and the bottom knob got us back in. Another handy money-saving feature: there's a kitchenette for the guests to use, with a full-size refrigerator, sink, microwave and bottled water. I had one sleepless night, and it was nice to be able to get a snack and go down to the parlor to read. We will definitely stay here again.
