We went there for lunch with a large party, 24, which was pre-planned. The service was good, the food was prepared as ordered, but there were mixed reviews on the quality (about 50/50 loved it/hated it. Personally, we went back and enjoyed it. Good pub food, craft beers and Bocce.

The food was awesome but my first initial server working the tables inside was very rude to me after having just sat down. Using the words, 'Oh, whatever' and flapping her hand with a look of attitude as she walked away. One of the younger servers overheard her and willingly arranged for another waiter to serve us.....he done a good job. So if you do go there to eat, don't have the middle aged lady with the short dark hair and glasses serve you. Very nasty person with an attitude that clearly shouldn't be working in such a fine dining establishment. So for me, the food was great, but that waitress was bad taste.

If you haven't been to Stone Mad, you need to check this place out. It is a hidden gem. The patio is amazing, but the inside is absolutely beautiful. They have great food and provide a great atmosphere.

The owners clearly put a lot of time and money into the decor. This is a beautiful place. However, when we visited on a weekend afternoon we were told that they do not have high chairs. The staff told us that they try to keep it to 21 and over and they don't want to be a family restaurant. That's understandable for a bar, I guess. However, the place was nearly empty, so they may want to rethink their policy. Also, if you've ever been to an Irish pub IN IRELAND, one thing you'd find is that they are all family-friendly and kids are welcome. They don't seem to have the stigma about kids in pubs that we do. In any case, it is a beautiful place for adults. Not sure about the food quality or prices since we packed up and ate down the street at The Harp, which is another beautiful Irish pub with fantastic views and is very family friendly.

First of all. It's "Stone Mad" not "Mad Stone" :)

We live in the neighborhood about 100 yards or so away. Stone Mad is a wonderful place to have a quiet drink on the beautiful patio. There is over a million dollars worth of stone work at this place, a 3 year construction and rehab endeavor on this formerly run down tavern.

The bar area feels like a euro place. Instead of cocktail mixers from a gun you get individual 6 oz tonic waters or mini-cokes etc. ((don't know why I like that so much but I do)). The bar staff , mostly adult men giving the feel of "career" bartender, dress in traditional shirt & tie with white aprons and are very professional.

The food is very good. And it's italian. No boxtys or "traditional" irish here. Everything is fresh daily. Nothing is ever frozen. The menu is slightly small but we pretty much always get the "special' for night.

One potential downside, as noted by other posters, is the variability of patron mix. Being in a marginal/transitional neighborhood, you occasionally get a couple of drunks or thugs hanging around. If the place is otherwise quiet they can be a distraction or detract from the ambiance.

But on the weekends the place becomes a very pleasent mix of locals and Clevleand professional either coming out from downtown or in from the suburbs. Free valet!.

Go and check it out. You'll most likely enjoy it.
